TBucket Engine Project (Dart SHP)

Oh, btw the little hole just below the cup plug goes all the way thru into the sponge washer
cavity. Maybe that's the solution, skirt some oil thru this hole periodically.

Rick... Brian asked me to relay to you..." Electric motors with Sleeve style bearings use a Super High Grade Oil to lubricate the bearings so they
won't fail. The oil is called Turbine Oil. Standard motor oil including synthetic doesn't last long...a few days to a week use and motor bearings
usually fail, armature locks up. loading and shaft speeds are to high...need the real deal Turbine Oil"

Remember those TV commercials with the Falex bearing tester? Dura Lube comes to mind.
I wonder if one of those "super lubricants" will work for you.

That's impressive , but I'm always wonder about these kinds of test. I don't know what difference it
would make, but I noticed that the arm with the weight was at a different angle for the Spartan System.

Got the new fuel pump in, but before I could install the pump I needed to install the connector.
Decided to go away from the spade connector and install a Deutsch DT connector capable of
carrying 13 amps. The pump is rated at 3 amps giving me plenty of head room. I have 12 gauge
wire going to the pump so I had to add a few inches of 14 gauge wire onto the 12 gauge wire
for the DT series connector. The largest wire it will accept is 14 gauge.

I have a syringe so I pushed some air tool oil into the small hole noted above. When I installed
the -8 AN to 3/8" NPT adapter into the pump I noticed there was oil in the threads. Cleaned the
oil out the threads before adding Permatex thread sealer to the pipe threads and installing the
adapters into the pump.

This will be a maintenance item every winter to keep the bushings lubricated.

I started with this kit, I'm glad I did this. I have since replenished some of the items.
Deutsch DT Series Kit includes all 30 of the most common DT series components, including terminals, wedgelocks, housings, plugs, and a terminal removal tool.

This is the only time I don't crimp & solder my connectors.

Very Nice Rick!!! I like the idea of using the Deutsch connector...It is clean looking and very friendly to disconnect if you ever have to.
I think I will look into this kit to have in my barn.

Also ...I was wondering if 3 in 1 oil would work to lubricate the sponge on the shaft.

I suppose it would, I wonder how long it would last thou.

The oil in the sponge will have to go up hill to get to the bearing. Going thru the cup plug and drilling
a small hole in the bushing is going to be the best option. Or do an inspection and lube every winter.

Turns out this will not work, they have reduced the size of the bushing in the end cap. Guess
there is a reason they don't show you the inside. Info-commercial ....... but there is more. They
show a spring, but there is none in the box.

HOLLEY IS OBVIOUSLY MAKING THINGS INCOMPATIBLE !!!

It comes with ZERO springs !!!

Huge parts shortages going on Rick along with quality control.
Worldwide now.
Like Holley products myself still.
I try and save old Favorite parts myself.

I got pictures of the Turbine oil I like to use.
Failed to upload pictures from my phone.
Done with those picture hosting sites for years now.

can you modifiy the end cap to fit? I think I am lost as to what you are trying to do.

I thought you bought a new pump?

If you are modifying the old pump.... maybe you could retro fit the extra spring and brushes you get with HF electric tools...Just a thought.
As far as fitting the end cap, I would use a die grinder and clear for the tabs.

Again...not sure I am following what you are trying to do o_O

The clip that holds the bearing in place would be hard to remove without damaging it.

I'm trying to have a backup that I can carry with me in the trailer.

Gotcha Rick.. Yes it is a good idea to have extra parts when you are out on the road trips. Starters and universal joints are the main items we carry in the trailer box. The mud is hard on starters. Fan belt and alternator are also good to keep on hand. Fuses and wire too.

many hardware stores have a fairly large spring selection,
perhaps you can locate something that will work ok
, just remember it needs to be rather weak,
excess tension rapidly increases wear issues
