I was wondering if anyone knows if an Oldsmobile air cleaner for a QJet will fit? I spotted one on the cheap

Oldsmobile V8s had the Crankcase Breather Tube on the Opposite side from Pontiac V8 .
Pontiac V8 the valvecover to air cleaner crankcase Breather tube is on the passenger side. Q-Jet Aircleaner Pontiac V8 matches.
Oldsmobile is exact opposite setup on Drivers side.
The Hole in the aircleaner for the crankcase filter has a Perfect punched out square hole for the filter with perfect small radius corners.

Been watching lots of old Pontiac You Tube Videos and every single GTO and 2nd Gen Formula Firebird ordered without Ram Air package has the Dual Snorkle Air Cleaner and is actually incorrect Restoration done.
Should have single snorkle air cleaners Quadrajet.
Dual Snorkle was used only on 400 HO package, 390 Hp 428 most used in Grandprix 1967-1969,
1970 455 HO 370 Hp,
1970 Trans Am RAIV only.
1971 &1972 Trans Am 455 HO only.
1970 Trans Am RAIV Lower Shaker Dual Snorkle is different from 71-72 455 HO .
I got the correct correct 1970 RAIV Trans Am Dual Snorkle. I had to pay a Mint for from a famous Pontiac guy collector.
Thousands Cash $$$$.

The Guys on You Tube drove up prices for the Quadrajet Dual Snorkle Air cleaner you want.
Pontiac had the best looking Factory air cleaners always..
Look Awesome restored.

The Single Snorkle 1967- 1979 Pontiac V8 326, 350, 400, 428, 455 engines are sized nice will flow 750-800 cfm into the Carburetor Quadrajet with a Good Paper air filter or K&N air filter element bought .
Just doesn't look Kool like Now Rare Factory Pontiac V8 Dual Snorkle air cleaners.

1968- 1970 Factory Single & Dual Snorkle is what fits your Catalina Convertible.
Have to keep searching if you dont want to pay $500-750 for that Dual Snorkle.

Single Snorkle is around $200.00.
Most single Snorkle I see are from a 1970 455 Bonneville 455 360 Hp engine like one I have I showed you.
They are actually Rare now too.
Prices still fair for the ones left out there.

The Pontiac V8 and Oldsmobile V8 Factory Air cleaners I recall will interchange fit both are Tall Deck design engines with Oldsmobile being Taller deck design the 425 ci & 455 co.
But Oldsmobile used a notched out air cleaner 403 & 455 I recall to clear the thermostat housing and top radiator hose.

You never cease to amaze me Brian! The only OE dual snorkel I found so far is one from a ‘68 to ‘70 GP for $395 plus S & H. Probably another $100. I have a few OE 1970 Corvette open filament air cleaners and a couple Chevy OE dual snorkels ‘71 and ‘72. If I had my welder back I bet I could fabricate a nice dual snorkel out of bits and parts from junker air cleaners I can easily get.
I’m amazed whenever I see those OE Original air cleaners on a factory HO motor and they have that single tapered snorkel (they are out there). How are they Not restrictive on the air flow for a 750 or 850 cfm QJet?

Think hell Rich you are going to get the diameter down to a hundred thousands of an inch exactly LOL

They are sized larger than typical SBC Chevrolet the Pontiac Air Cleaners Single Snorkle Opening. Usually a large Oval opening on the Snorkel Pontiac V8.

I dont have that Rare Now Pontiac V8 Dual Snorkle GTO 400HO, 455HO, 428HO Air cleaner non ram air.
The Top lids are special to match also.

Just find a Nice Drop base Moroso air cleaner.
And a Nice Moroso Standard air cleaner to try out.
I don't know which one works on a Quadrajet Pontiac V8 tonight.

I had to use a Moroso Drop base 14.0 inch because I am using a Holley 4-bbl 4150 Double pumper.
Pontiac Big Car Aircleaner will not fit a Holley DP 4150.

Need a .480 " lift cam ( max lift that can be used with Factory pressed in Pontiac V8 Rocker armstuds , did same as SBC for a while) or .500-.530" lift cam screw in studs to make Full use of 750- 800 cfm Quadrajet or larger cfm Holley 4-bbl.
Ran Thousands of Pontiac V8 engine simulations.
I can tell you its fact

All I can do is measure the Air cleaner Top Lid of my 1970 Bonneville 455 Big Car Single Snorkle air cleaner.

Sucks.. I remember 30-40 years ago all the Factory air cleaners tossed off of Junkyard cars. Thousands of Pontiac V8 cars here. Then stepped on ran over by Junkyard operator guys.
Only Trans Am Shaker saved.

I’m meeting the guy everyone calls the Ponchoman, he’s a buddy of Cliffs. He says he has more than 100 performance cams from a factory close out years ago. Each comes with a Dyno sheet for 2 test mule motors, a HO 400 10.75 cr and another, a stroked 400 bored .30 @ 10.5 cr and trips.

My older son’s GF’s father has a 1976 TA that needs an engine assembled and in 6 weeks I’m spraying the car and some guy is doing the Chicken on the hood. We went partners on a powder coat oven today, tomorrow I’m wiring a 220 volt, 40 amp line for it and another for a bead blaster booth on the other side by myself, I hope it’s cooler and less humidity after the rain tomorrow.
I have receipts for the last car I sprayed in 2015. Shopping around for the best prices - everything except the paint itself came to $3845, the paint is $1970 more, an increase of $2763 more for EXACTLY the same list of materials in the same exact brands and quantities!
