Electrifying Question

I’m hardwiring in a wire harness to the HV battery pack. The instructions list the tools you need to do this work, among which is a pair of insulated gloves for 500 volts. I don’t have any such gloves, I do have a pair of rubber gloves that I bought for using with a wet saw and I have surgical type gloves. This battery has been sitting for 3 plus years, I doubt it has much of a charge left.
From what
I have, can it do for this job (I just have to make 2 connections to the power.

I just have to connect that red and black wire that has the white tags near the terminal ends

Anything with Carbon molecules in the rubber gloves will conduct electricity and current. The danger they worry about.

I’ll just use one hand and keep the other in my pocket for today:eek:
Have to get a pair of lineman’s gloves for next time!

I don’t know how you guys work in this heat! Can’t wait until this summer is gone! This whole year sucked !
It's been Hot and Humid here also.
I work outside here 1-1/2 car garage is packed.
At Ed's garage his house he has A/C in the garage. Need A/C For Fabrication and Tig welding he does.
Been forcing myself to work in the heat outside to get stuff done and stay in shape.

It's highly stressful Race car Fabrication.
Physical labor it 6.5 -7.0 out of 10.
No A/C No patience and tempers flare up.

I’m sitting on the edge of my chair wondering if I just pissed away $320 on a charger that may not work. Never saw anything like this. The seller on eBay mentioned once that “it usually works more often then not.” When you get it they tell you in a note that you have to email them to let them know you got the charger and you need the install instructions in a PDF attachment. They did send an email right back but it doesn’t say how long it must charge for, what voltage numbers to look for, Or amperage either!
When I started reading the install instructions that’s when they keep repeating “there’s no telling if your HV pack will take a charge, it depends on the condition of your battery pack.”
Now they state no returns, no refunds - only if it’s a manufacturer defect only. AND, they state they test that everything works before they ship the charger so there’s no way you can claim anything is defective. It’s funny they didn’t drive all this negative information home until after you pay for it. It’s confusing because at one point they say this charger is for batteries that give a failure code on your dashboard due to a imbalanced cell or 2 , then in the install instructions it says I won’t get an electrical shock when a dead battery pack measures 1 volt or less on a multi meter. Huh?
They tell you if it doesn’t work just save the charger for when you buy a new battery you can use it to keep it balanced thereby extending the life of the new battery.

I only bought from them because they have a 100% buyer satisfaction rating after many sales. I thought, “What are the chances I’m going to be the first this charger doesn’t work for?

I thought buying through EBay gives me recourse if something doesn’t work for me?

I usually pay with a Credit card online purchases $150 - 2,0000 orders made have the Ultimate credit card Lawyers on your side instant stop payment to that Ebay seller.

You can ball park the the Prius Charger output current Amps by the Size Guage of wire used to connect to the Vehicles Hybrid battery.
12 guage wires probably around 15-20 Amps charging output.
10 guage wires around 25-30 amps.

I read up alot on Elon Musks Tesla cars earlier this year.
Still a Dream 100% EV Even if there was 100 more 100-200 Gigawatts output Nuclear Power plants ready to go fire up in the USA.
#1 issues is Home house power wired to pole or underground to the house.
Need a 200-1000 amp Feed in at 220 VAC.
Get over 200 amps its 440, 660, 1400 volts AC Power in to get 1000 Amps clean.
So the EV Vehicle recharged in 10-15 minutes.

To Rechage those Tesla Semi trucks it takes around 2000 Amps current in minimum.
5000-10,000 Amps for a Fast Charge.
Those only way practical to fast charge is a 100-200 Megawatt Dedicated Diesel Engine Powered V12 Quad Turbocharged 2000 Hp Caterpillar Generator Set.

Hook it up the new charger and try it out.
Monitor charging voltage.
Determine charger is at fault get your money back.

Also Everyone in the USA Needs to be hardwired up for 3 -phase power every single house.
440, 660, 1400 VAC is 3-phase power to go 100% EV

Now I have a fully charged HV battery and it will start the ICE, but the car only runs on the ICE not the HV. The car has very little power from the engine. After It got up to temperature it was a slooooow climb to 30 - 35 mph.

I should have stuck to my original plans and that was don’t repair anything until the ICE and Hybrid system work completely.
