I Need A Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner For A ‘68 To ‘73(?) Pontiac Qjet But . . .

I’m meeting the guy everyone calls the Ponchoman, he’s a buddy of Cliffs. He says he has more than 100 performance cams from a factory close out years ago. Each comes with a Dyno sheet for 2 test mule motors, a HO 400 10.75 cr and another, a stroked 400 bored .30 @ 10.5 cr and trips.

My older son’s GF’s father has a 1976 TA that needs an engine assembled and in 6 weeks I’m spraying the car and some guy is doing the Chicken on the hood. We went partners on a powder coat oven today, tomorrow I’m wiring a 220 volt, 40 amp line for it and another for a bead blaster booth on the other side by myself, I hope it’s cooler and less humidity after the rain tomorrow.
I have receipts for the last car I sprayed in 2015. Shopping around for the best prices - everything except the paint itself came to $3845, the paint is $1970 more, an increase of $2763 more for EXACTLY the same list of materials in the same exact brands and quantities!
You need Non China Made Hydraulic Lifters.
My Isky 202HY Hydraulic lifters are only ones I know that will not fail Flat tappet Hydraulic. Presently on backorder Summit shows.
Original GM NOS Lifters are Gold now.
Find them worth $400-500 a set of 16.
Every single Comp Cams has failed on startup.
Dorien in Belgium still has issues with his 1969 Corvette and Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller . I know he is still pissed.
Followed his thread and Headaches.
I couldn't advise then of course.
Knew right then Junk China CC Parts.
He knows now !

Hydraulic rollers have been done in Pontiac V8, 100% failure rates.
Some have been using LS Hydraulic lifters get a set of 16 on Ebay for $99.00.
They failed too because made in China.

Its Solid Roller Cam Pontiac V8, most are radical Drag Race Oriented.
Not ideal for a cruiser driver any without lots of upgrades made everywhere in the engine and rest of drivetrain.
Ends up costing well over $10,000.

Budget Fun Reliable 100% Flat Tappet Hydraulic has to be 100% USA True all.

Some GM Cams were not heat treated right Grapevine Gossip.
Buyer Beware.

Iskenderien works What I bought entire install kit it was $950.

Crane Cams New Old Stock is Gold and Diamonds when found. Super Rare hard to find For a Pontiac V8 vintage Street cam profiles.
What Grumpy Loves.
Comp Cams bought them out.
Then shut Crane Cams down.
A Chicago Waukegan LLC Firm bought Comp Cams production went 100% China.
Got the inside scoop from Worlds best engine builders while on FB yet.

1969 Pontiac Grand Prix 428 HO 390HP 480 Ft/lbs engine.
He is missing the Correct Dual Snorkle air cleaner.
The Air cleaner lid is Chrome plated.
Only Chrome plated on the GTO 400HO and 1970 Formula Firebird Ordered with Factory Ram Air.
All others were painted black.
The Aftermarket 428 Air cleaner decal is incorrect also but near all buy them off if ebay and use for You Tube videos.
Sounds good his 428 Pontiac.
Can see the Single Snorkle air Pontiac air cleaner works.
He is not Street Racing against Fastest Vintage Musclecars and Today Hellcats 707 and Special Versions of Hellcats 1000+ Hp .

Where does the very small vacuum line on the bottom of the air cleaner connect to on the carb? To a “T” connector because there’s no port on the carb that small. Must use very little vacuum. What does it do if there’s already a choke that works and the heat tube from the bottom of the snorkel to the exhaust manifold? I figure it’s closing a damper inside the snorkel tube.

China made Reproduction if your Ok with that buy it.
Some like China parts.
Others say quality is terrible.
None are exact as GM Made stamped them Top Pontiac Collectors Report.
Like Bloomington Gold ×1000 times more Picky Top Pontiac Collector guys National Famous.
Each Pontiac Car type Generation has them.
Early Trans Am 1969-1974 most Anti China Repop parts they dont fit.
Get dinged points at car shows judged.
Ridiculed online by fellow Pontiac guys for buying China.

It's a Stand alone Vacuum port on the early 1968-1971 Pontiac 4-bbl intake manifold.
1/2 " NPT to 1/8" straight for a Vacuum hose.
Pontiac sellers always remove all the special Factory Vacuum fittings.
Impossible to find items too !

I picked up a real 69 AC off of a 69 GP early this morning. it’s rusted pretty good and the chrome lid sux but it’s real OE.

You know I look at some of this stuff and think you guys are crazy but then I remember not to look back at the boxes and boxes of slips from restoring the Vette and some of the things I bought and prices that I paid

I bet it didn't cost $269.00
It's very Hard to Relate to guys used to Chevy how hard it is to get correct Pontiac V8 parts non China 100% Original Perfect Mint condition.
Deals for $5 bucks just does not exist in Pontiac V8 world.
Some items more valuable than 426 Street and Race 426 Factory Hemi cars had.
Expect to pay $500 to start.
Go up to $5000-15,000 cash or more Rare Pontiac V8 single items.

I had to adds couple of Vacuum fittings to my Offenhauser single plane intake manifold last month when I switched to the BLP BoLaws 1085 cfm Racing Carburetor.
Racing Carbs True have no Vacuum fittings . Same with Racing intake manifolds Pontiac V8 and Chevrolet V8.
Expected to use no accessories and Full manual shift Turbo 400.
Needed Vacuum for my Auto shift Turbo 400 and for the 1963 Grand Prix Power Brakes.
Power brakes are stock Standard only on Grand Prix and Bonneville early years

I had started collecting them years ago when I heard production was dropping off. Even then I had to pay insane prices even used parts. I believe I have most of everything Pontiac ever installed on intakes from early 1960’s to 1981.

I saved Original 1976 455 intake, same as 350P and 400 special unique Vacuum fittings intact.
Oldsmobile V8 had unique Vacuum fittings in the intake also those are easier to find from Ebay sellers Specialty Olds V8.

Ok, so I decided to get a cheap open filament chrome air cleaner just for some protection while I’m on the lookout for a correct dual snorkel unit. Summit has triple chrome plated (their claims) From China for $25. I can get that back on Craig’s L later.

What about an Edelbrock Chrome Aircleaner?
I know those fit Quadrajets perfect .
$25 is likely not good
Everything is so expensive $100- 150 Normal.

A Bad cheap Aircleaner will let dirt into the Pontiac 400 engine and ruin it.

Biggest issue now to rebuild is no USA Hydraulic Flat Tappet lifters to rebuild stock or like I did 76 455 ISKY cams.

Hydraulic Rollers given now Unreliable. Have to use Solid Roller lifters. otherwise in a Pontiac V8 only available USA Costs will $5000 alone to do it.
