Performer 2101 - opinions?

I am not a big fan of stopgap purchases... but in this case I think it might be a good idea to do an intake swap as it would make the driving experience so much better.

Down the road I plan to do something about the powerplant; but that may be a while and I will be building, or buying a crate, exactly the way I want.

I probably will go through the expense of swapping on a TCI Rattler as that can be re-used on another build/crate.

The intake (and remember I have C3 'vette hood clearance issues); is another story.

I have found that there is a bit of slack in the throttle cable; contributes to making getting off the line with difficulty...

I have an Edelbrock Torker 1 on there for the moment. I suspect, and some have said, that this is the rest of the story. At low rpm, is seem to threaten to stall too easily.

I found on a local flea-bay an Edelbrock Performer 2101 for $125. Over here that is reasonable.

IIRC, that is a dual pattern intake and would work with my AFB. I am thinking of picking that up and reselling my Torker 1. Fixing the throttle cable, the intake and the MC ;) should make this a much better driving experience.

Real investments in the motivation will come later.

Go for the 2101 ?

let us know about clearance issues and the difference in how the engine responds once its installed and tuned
pictures as always are helpful:D

Will do ! I look forward to adjusting the throttle pedal, brake pedal and the "new" intake. The next step will be to clean up that clutch pedal which has a rattle and too much play in it.

I paid for the part - we will have to see how long it takes for him to ship it and get here.

The firing order thereafter will have to be:
- new aluminum radiator (to prevent overheating) and, in no particular order;
- replace all the seals and weatherproof the car;
- get rid of all the rattles;
- TCI Rattler; and

- put in some tubular Impala control arms... apparently this allows for increased caster. (My goal is to make this handle as well as a modern car.) As my control arm bushings are shot to all hell, it is not much more expensive to replace the entire control arms. (I also remember the struggle I had digging out the bushings and pressing new ones in on the TT; I'd prefer not to go through that again.) The Impala control arms should only require the sway bar brackets to be cut off the old arms and welded on to the new ones... thus avoiding the "corvette tax". As for the steering, I am on the fence about going with a Borgeson conversion or a full on rack and pinion. Although it is more expensive I have had steering boxes on all my vintage iron, I may well go R&P. I have never had one...

Its not inexpensive installing a rack & pinion on a C3 Corvette.
Be sure to have $3000-4000 free money to spend.
No one ever stated how Much but it seems to be in that ballpark for all.

New Aluminum radiator & TCI Rattler balancer be my next items to save up for & buy soon if you can Dorien.
