at some point I fully intend to swap a serious big block chevy engine and a matched 4l80e transmission thats been converted to full manual shifter control, into my corvette.
one minor issue is converting the corvette shifter and console over to reflect the change in the transmission controls

personally opening the hood to display a nice BBC in a c4 seems to me to be the better option and it shows more hot rodding skills than paying $70K plus for a Zo6, and I like the looks of the C4 better

LINGINFELTER sold several c4 corvettes with fuel injected 540 BBC engines in the late 1990s , but by now those cars are close to 20 years old , you won,t know how badly they were maintained or abused by previous owners over the last 20 years so you might want to clone the cars with a new 502-540-572-632 BBC and upgrade the transmission to a new 4l80E-6L80E

if you look up high quality shifters for a 4l80e you get results similar to this

it would be much better if the console displayed the gear you were in at all times so you could use that as a reference, because it only up-shifts or down shifts at your manual control in that case.
a shiftere matched to a console gear indicator will be required

there ARE several suppliers of adapter tail housings for the conversion of a much stronger 4l80E transmission to the C4 corvettes C-beam support

BTW your not necessarily stuck with the transmission that came in your car, or corvette, if you find a really clean c4 corvette or muscle car, thats got a different transmission than you really want, if you get the car at a great price it might be well worth the time and cost to convert the car to a manual trans , or a 4L80E yourself

the C-beam differs between the dana 36 and dana 44 rear differentials

Your never going to be able to launch hard with a C4 Dana 44 diff and a 572 BBC.
Have to walk it off the line.
Then squeeze the gas pedal.
Just too much torque.

Grumpy, a Lingenfelter 540 Cu in 93 Corvette In Torch Red went for $21,000 last year at the Simeone Foundation Auction. I’m trying to find a link - it was a 2 hr Saturday night auction for big wigs.

You have do Fab Work on the side Grumpy.
Its the only thing that pays right now.
Have to be the best of the best to do it right as you know too.

Lol I was looking at them the other night but hurst doesn't make OD shifters and they ofn B&M or at least that giant company that owns everything now does.
A C4 Corvette has the ideal Body, Frame , & Chassis.
Proven to 254 mph by the Late John Linglefelter DRIVING with the Sledehammer Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette packing 950 HP.
It had 16 fuel injectors.
355 cubic inches only.
Used a Chevy Truck production block.
Driven to the Famous Tire test track in Ohio.
Raced till 254 mph was hit.
Then Driven home in the rain back to Connecticut.
You Tube Videos to watch proves it.
It was a 1988 Corvette.
Year was 1989.

I think it was Speedway that had a conversion for an OD tranny and a shifter with dash indicator for a '55 Chevy that might could be converted to a Vette with a little back yard ingenuity. You have the knowledge. and equipment to make your own shifter with detents and just install the dash indicator from anything available..
I think some '80s Camaros had something similar to what Speedway has and a cable run to the dash indicator.

yes I have plenty of options, and I;m sure Ill find a way to modify or fabricate what I need if I can,t find it in an off the shelf part.

Grumpy always had in Mind Full Manaul Shift with a 4L80E.
Need 100% accurate stops.
1-2 2-3 3-4.
Reverse and lockout protection while Racing.

Has to be a True Drag Race Quality Shifter.
