just want some reassurance on combo choices

HR 230 = 72 degrees advertised cam overlap.
How much vacuum present on 383 only Grumpy knows with his own combo.

Going to be likely different 400 sbc and Edelbrock Pro Flow EFI in place.
Which way it vears up or down I can not predict.

Have you had any valve guide issues with those gen 2 heads? Or was that a gen 1 issue only? I remember that head very vaguely.
Special Rocker Arms Made for TW Gen 1.
Most guys never purchased.
Comp makes them only along with Crower.
HP Stainless steel.
Guys cheeped out and had issues.

I have 2 sets of TW Gen 1 Heads along with guide plates and correct Rockers Used on Intake side.
Complete.

I never used them, I remember them having some geometry issues if you didn't set them up properly

Guys Ran 11's in c4 Gen Corvettes with 355 cubic inches.
Early Chevy Novas High 10's all motor.

It was a Marketing failure & Tech Failure.
Should have sold the special Intake Rockers with them.

So it ended up a disaster with stock style rockers used 99 % of the time.
 
I like the Isky RR272/282 Best yet.
Strongest flat torque band.
Hp follows in similar linear curve.

That's why I remember them. The failures and negative press from the wrong rockers. They definitely should have just supplied rockers with them

I called several years back to Trickflow.
It was about 2010-2011.
I was new here on Grumpys site.
They guy behind the original Twisted wedge heads SBC was gone.
He went to Summit Racing as a Tech guy.
Got in contact with him.
He told me all.
Made to compete with the Ford Windsor small block Twisted Wedge.
Ford required no special intake rockers.
Success in Ford V8.
 
the twisted wedge heads work great if your fully able to measure and set up a valve train geometry
, and get the proper valve tip contact patch on the valve tip,
the heads got a bad rep simply because most guys simply re-used the original push rods,
and never had a clue as to the differences in valve train geometry,
or clearances.. certainly not a problem with the heads,
but one with the lack of knowledge on the purchasers part.

Your Gen 2 SBC Trickflow Twisted Wedge Heads are extremley rare now.
I have never seen a set for sale in the past 10 years.

The Trickflow Gen 1 TW heads I see for sale once every year if lucky.
The special guideplates are super hard to find.
I have 3 full sets of the guideplates.

Bought another set of Gen 1's about 2012.

They sell for $800-1110 or so when they appear.

keeping mine.

There used to be Wolverine cams a division of Crane.
They worked nice. Out of business a long time ago.
Still have thier last catalog.

Bullet, I guess they are somewhat merged with ultradyne. I always enjoyed talking with Harold Brookshire.
 
I looking at Howard Cams this morning.
They do not List EFI compatible cams for a 350-400 ci sbc Hydraulic roller.
Deciding myself to choose from Lobe separation & RPM power ranges from pick lists.
 
The Howards #110265-12 SBC Hydraulic Roller is interest to me today.
286/294 advertised.
233/241 @.050.
2400-6000 advertised power band.
.530 Int lift/ .545 Ex Lift with 1.5:1 ratio rockers
112 LCA lobe separation angle
108 ICA intake centerline
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 standard firing order.

I can not find a cam card online & checked Howard's Cam Lobe files....just basic listings.

No .050" lift events I want to DD2000 accurate.
IVO, IVC, EVO, EVC.
