26 or 30 lb injectors

I know I could spend a view days reading, but I am working on a date deadline. I also posted this over on the Corvette Forum.

As the ones of you that subscribe to FIC's emails, they are running a sale right now.

So the ones of you more knowledgeable than I in this area, 26 or 30 lb Bosch III's ?

To recap where I am going:

96 LT1 will have the following (which I have on hand, or will)

LT4 Hot Cam
1.6:1 roller rockers
ported heads and intake
headers
might get turned into a 377 (so low miles, doesn't need a rebore, maybe just a quick hone)
4l60E staying with a 3.07 rear gear ratio for cruising, highway, mountain driving

what will the 26's support, I know the 30's will more than do what I need, the 26's are just a tad less in cost (not significantly less), but they are flow matched

I am not a big fan of that guy.
Leave it at that.

Buy Accel or Trickflow Fuel injectors.

If your close to 500 Hp or 700 + I would look at high end Race Fuel injectors.

I used FIC Bosch 3's.
Nothing but issues.

I bought Trickflow 24's & my 87 Corvette convertible came back to life.
Top speed of 118 mph with FIC Bosch 3's.
Afterwards Trickflow 24's installed I can hit 150-152 mph top speed.
Fast all around.....LS C5 Corvette Power.

lets assume your looking at potentially ending up with about 420 hp (Id think thats rather reasonable for the listed upgrades )
maybe an 80 hp boost over stock, and Id suspect thats more than you'll be dealing with, realistically,
as the stock engines in the 330 hp range.
https://fuelinjectorclinic.com/flow-calculator
30 lb injectors more closely match the potential of the engine,
in fact Id strongly suspect using 26 lb injectors would noticeably limit,
the engines potential power!
larger injectors with higher flow rates allow more power, as air flow rates increase , up to the point where the injector reaches about 85% duration, where it starts to max out on flow.
your engine will generally want about 14:1-15:1 fuel air ratio at idle and, the ratio should get richer as rpms and engine loads are increased
injector pulse duration is programmable on many controllers,
it is simply the amount of time, measured in milliseconds (ms),
a fuel injector stays open (delivers fuel) during a cylinder intake cycle.
Typical injector pulse width for an idling engine at normal operating temperature is between 2.5 and 3.5 ms.
shortening the time limits fuel, extending the time richens the mix ratio.
think of the engines cylinder as a bath tub, and the injector as the faucet ,
you control the flow of water by opening the faucet ,
the longer the faucets open the more water volume flows, closing the faucet restricts flow ,
thus TIME, controls volume

Strictly on the subject of the brands of injectors, please elaborate further.

Were the Trickflows supplied with all the info needed to retune for them ? I have everything needed to tune the car. IE: Jet Interface box and a dedicated 32 bit XP laptop.

It goes back 10 years now when I was on Corvette Forum.
I complained....got banned.
Told him they were Junk his injectors.
And they were.
I was the only Guy that actually went out and street raced.
Lost almost 50 mph top end speed !

Read an old post 2 years earlier....Another guy tried Trickflow 24's ( From the Ford Racing world in early 2000's & I knew all the Ford race guys used Trickflow)....Ordered direct from Summit Racing for $310.00.
Installed. Power back & more.
Nothing done otherwise.

I am not an EFI Tuner.
I have worked in a Race Shop building engines and all other Hotrod mods & repairs done.
I worked next to a really good EFI tuner & watched him chassis dyno cars.

You get what you pay for when buying EFI injectors.

You do not want to duty cycle injectors more than 80 % on the street.
90 % drag race.
Important to size correct.
Grumpy's Links above will help you.
Be sure to read them.

Yes. I have a Duramax and I take extreme care of my injectors. I have a scan tool that lets me watch the balance rates so I can tell if I have to run cleaner, bio-diesel, etc. Diesel injectors are expensive. They run at 22,000 lbs not the 43.5 the ones in the Vette do.

I have been reading. If you go to the 80% duty cycle, the rating goes up a bit, especially if the HP starts creeping towards 450 flywheel.

I spend a lot of time at Summit. They are 18 miles from my house. The guy that owns Summit was in the Vette Club I belong to when he started the place. I lived next door (in an apartment) to the first store front he had when he moved it out of his house.

Maybe I will just hold off a bit and see where everything ends up at before ordering.

OK.
I can tell you the LS Guys do not use Bosch 3's.
They get tossed out.
I can not remember right now what brand was used in 700-900 hp Boosted C5 & C6 builds right now.
I recall they had shiny fancy Purple anodized bodies on them...$900 a set.

Dekas or similar.

Trickflow injectors dropped right into my Tuned Port 350.
I just reused the stock upper injector clips that snap onto the fuel rail.
I think they were not used on LT1 & LT4 C4 Vette those clips.
