Active spoiler width:
GM just patented the "variable-width aerodynamic spoiler." What good is it? No good on the way to the grocery store or in a typical commute, but during high speed corning the spoiler will automatically, instantly extend only over the tire (usually outside) with the least traction to give it additional downforce. They call it torque vectoring. During the straights, the 'shortened' spoiler has less drag = higher top speed.

It's worth noting that a new Lamborghini Huracan model with 'Active Aerodynamic' features posted a sub 7minute lap at the Nurburgring - quicker than past Huracans.
This one actually surfaced last August and I missed it:
GM Patent for instrument panel that will not be blocked by steering wheel. GM is working on an adaptive instrument panel. GM argues that a constant view of the instruments is crucial during hard driving. The new feature would receive position information from the steering wheel and move specified information like RPM and speed to a location on the digital dashboard where the main opening of the steering wheel isn’t obscuring it.
