Finishing up with the induction system.

I got my oil leaks all but crushed I think I have a cam tower seeping oil onto the header which is fine as I am going to take it off soon for a checkup. No more puddles or drips on the ground. My coolant temp reading is being a pain in the ass and its crucial to get right when running efi. Going to try to crush that today.
The engine is a bit more dialed in even though I have that huge issue with the sensor. I can get around this by using a seperate sensor I just need to grab the PN and buy a plug.
On induction I have a GTX 3076R but its not hooked up right yet. I just built the cooler last night and got done around 1AM. The plenum is welded sheet of my own design 4.2L for a 2.2L engine that is about perfect for maximum power before diminishing returns hit. My buddy had it designed way too big about 6L Thats how I knew I knew better than him (LOL) I selected 2 inch hot side pipe to match the ID of my compressor housing outlet and 3 inch cold pipe to match the formula for the combined area of the ITBs I forget the formula but its on this site. Exhaust is 3 inch. I have photos of what we made that will be up soon or you can see my post on Mightycarmods facebook. It should all be pretty damn neat when its done. BTW I think I fryed my rectumfryer on my altenator. didnt know the light being hooked up was so important.

I will look on Facebook.
Been using FB alot to Network.

Post a picture when you can.
Grumps site only worth posting on.

What Alternator do You have ?
Lucas or a Bosch ?
I specialize also in alternator repair and CS144 High Amp builds.

Have to join the Group.
Questions.
I actually do not know.
Googled.
It's Fast and Furious stuff.
Showing my age at 49.
I am a musclecar owner and Drag Racer.

Its a bmw M30 alt. Gets hot while sitting right at the rectumfryer. It also has paracitic draw. now it does charge. I know these old alts dont throw full voltage at idle but it does seem to be charging the battery.

My buddy who did the welding.
That is nice.
Air To Liquid Cooler. Nice work by Both of You.
Like the Intake plenum.
I recall the 2:1 ratio.
Been a long time since we discussed Turbo Charging in depth here. Back when Turbo Phil was around several years back.
It has been Normal aspirated old school since but power adders are needed today to compete No Prep drag Fast racing.

If You can run a GM Delco CS144 it would be ideal.
I know its tight packing on your Lotus Espirit.
Its about an 8 Inch endframe alternator a CS144.
Lots of meat on the casing and its Ok to notch grind to clear obstructions. I had to do it to mount on a CS144 on my 87 Corvette & my 1963 Pontiac Gp. I built a Cs144 for my 1970 Trans Am a few months back.
Most durable bullet proof simple alternator ever.
Puts out 80-100 amps at idle and does not get Hot.
Can output at 140-160 amps 100 % duty cycle and it will not fail any.
I prefer to build 1-wire hookup. Engine starts up and its charging instant. Engine off the internal voltage regulator shuts off.
Has factory Avalanche Diodes, only used in CS144. I put a higher amp capacity Avalanche rectifier bridge in.
They last 200,000 + miles street driving before the Brushes wear out.
Honda style durability.

CS130 Is crappy.
I avoid. tried them. POS that left me stranded in my Vette.

CS130 D is truck Vortech 350 Chevy base alternator. OK. Stock electronics crappy.

Bosch & Lucas Alternator hit or miss. Never great. Engineering faults in electronics TTL design.

There are other variations in Mounting CS144 I never shown.
They were also used on GM V6 front wheel drive cars 1990's.

For Marcus in Germany here on Grumps.
It was tested This Past Friday night on the Gp.
Still warm when I shipped it off to UPS 20 minutes later.
He should have it in a few weeks .

Supergramps is a liberty
The cresta did a 9.97
LSX motor.
Those questions keep advertisers out.

I will look into the alts. I ordered a new rectifier. Its got paracitic draw. The alt has 200 miles on the rebuild so im a little pissed off.

Japan used to build nice electronics.
Moved to China the production.

I use Transpo Electronics.
Costs more. Superior.
Have to be a Vendor to obtain all for all models of alternators.
Got an inside source so I can keep $$ prices down.

I bought the alt from the U.S. If this turns into a real pain I have a VW alt that just needs to be switched over to v belt. Also they might deny you. Dan is the current moderator there and its a fan page for the show MCM. But they are a great group.

I entered your answers.
I used to work in a Race Shop in New Lenox , IL.
Geared Up Motorsports.
Import and Domestic I worked on both.
Engine building I did.
Others Tuned.
Yusef is the Head EFI Tuner.
Infamous for his Imported Flying EVO Mitsubishi.
Fast. No Prep Fast.
Seen 44psi High Boost one Saturday morning at 2Am.
We were testing street racing in the huge industrial lot there.
140 mph honest 44psi Boost.
Ran out of Room.
3-4 gears at 9,000 crank rpms.
I was riding shotgun.
I built the EVO Shortblock for him after an engine failure.
Pulled harder than many V8s.
Q16 Race Fuel.
E85 ran also with different tune.

Let me know if want to try a CS144.
I bought 1 more New Delco Remy Core.
Last 3 I built Are all new cores.
Used getting harder to find here.

All modern are PWM Pulse Width Modulated field control by the ECM.
Works.
More complex.
Not Hotrodder friendly.
