Coatings For Titanium Connecting Rods

at times you might question the level of sanity if someone puts $300K
into a race car,

Knowing without question ,
that he will be lucky to get 1/8th of the

investment back in time.
yes I can see some corporation writing it off as advertising,
hell a 30 second spot on the super bowl costs millions

and you can get that advertisement painted on a race car door,
flashing by the stand and seen by hundreds of thousands of spectators,

a hundred , 125, or, 250 or more times every race,
sponsoring a race car.
and over several races every season for only $300K why not, its a bargain!
(IF YOU HAVE CASH TO BURN)
It was back in the day for me Grumpy...late 1990s & up to 2002.
In the Pontiac World Nostalgia Super Stock Race Cars Ruled !
High 9s, Low 9s all motor no power adder !
Then I met Crazy Ed at Winners Circle Speed shop.
He was on the phone.
Yelled F off *hung up.
Waited on me.
Rest is history.
Still Race Cars as you know from present thread on DC !

Just called again to Crower.
Got Louis.
Got the Full status without any bad attitude.
Next Wednesday done and shipped off my Titanium Connecting Rods for the Trans Am.

Called again Grumpy.
Supposed to be done in 1 week.
Like I was put dead last.
Didn't Bill my credit card.
Just have my Ti Rods.
Keep waiting.
Won't give me a Hp Rating True.
Said they don't know today.
Original prints gone on my Ti Crower Rods.
Have prints back to 2002.
Made around 2000-2001 because I bought in 2002 after that race season went by.
Been a long time dream wish to use those Crower Ti Rods.
Can't order Diamond Pistons for extra long Pontiac V8 Ti....pin setting will be one off.
Have those Crower I beam forged if you recall I had made new for me 2011.
Don't feel good about them with Nitrous Emergency Power for 1000+.

Thinking about Aluminum Rods today.

Give up Fick Ti.
Crower has and don't think will ever get back.

Kaufmann Pontiac Racing lists the Crower I beam forged rods I have at my house now good for 850 Hp +.
Not much of Nitrous hit.
Just 250.

Have to call them today and see if they have pushed to 1000+ .

Jim Butler has the same Crower 4340 Forged steel rods I have rated for 1000 Hp+ , and no longer available.

Hopefully Titanium rods coming back good for 1000+.

See How the 6 Rebuilt Ti. Crower look when they get back to me next week.
2 are brand-new and still at home here.
Only reason to use them is rpm quick windup advantage.
Make the Bottom end last longer pushed to the limit.
Get benefits of Aluminum Connecting Rods along with Forged billet steel rods.

They came back finally from Crower yesterday Grumpy.
Look Good.
I have the L19 7/16" 1.800" Rod bolts. 65 ft/lbs with the special Crower Titanium Lube. Its not lithium grease. Real thick & tacky.
I think its Detroit Diesel Headbolt & Fastener Lube. Rebuilt them in diesel shops & looks exact same the Crower Ti rod bolt lube.

U1 I have marked is the only that got plasma sprayed again on the big end.
The rest of the U series I have marked they said they were fine.
I said I wanted all 6 resprayed. They said they only do the work necessary & We are the experts on Titanium connecting rods.
Must be difficult PIA to put the special Big end side check coatings on Grumpy.

Down to Diamond Pistons Grumpy & True Race ring package to take +400 - +500 HP Emergency Power Hit.
I don't want an evacuation pump.
Should have I know.
Street driven yet.
Have to call Total Seal to discuss a Ring package.

Sold 1/2 on thin ring packages then again not.
Had excellent performance durability with factory 5/64" - 1/16" -3/16" Pontiac 455 ring package in past. OEM stock layout.

I want a True Guarentee 10,000 mile 80 % WOT mileage accumulated durability.
Not puts 10,000 miles....thats super easy to pull off.
20 % because I seen 5.0 Cop and have no choice to drive Below 100 mph and he is following me again.
Always happened that way driving the 1970 -1/2 Trans Am in the past.
Looks like a True racecar & It is from the factory.

Those a nice rods Brian... Glad everything worked out ... I felt the same way when The shop had my block for months...
What's really scary is when your friend works there and calls you up asking what size they should line bore the mains too!!!!!
Of coarse he was playing a joke on me cause he knew I had been waiting along time to recieve my block back! :D

Brian, you already answered your own question. like you said - STREET DRIVEN.

Brian, you already answered your own question. like you said - STREET DRIVEN.
No Prep Drag Racing also.
We have an old saying in Illinois.
All you need to have for a street car is working headlights, Taillights, brake lights, horn, windshield wipers that work, and a Vin Tag to get it registered for license plates and insurance.
Anything else goes.
WOT Every chance you get here.

It has always spoofed me as to why you can't get what you ask for when it is YOUR money that is being spent and someone will say it's not necessary as they don't want to do what you are willing to pay.
I want what I want and I'm willing to pay for it just don't work with the NEW GENERATION now. You get what you got and that's all.

whats even worse is having clueless and non-skilled guys or even novice apprentices,
who are even less knowledgeable work on your parts and screw them up beyond any hope of repairs
I had one machine-shop drop a set of ported aluminum heads in a caustic soda cleaning bath,
where they sat over night to remove paint and grease, not much left in the morning
that might be O.K. with cast iron, but insane with aluminum
