I hired a local farmer to turn over and plant 6 acres of older fields in strategic plots ending with 4 somewhat equal sized fields of what will be Feed corn, soybean, hybrid Sunflower and Northern Alfalfa Grass. He should be done on Friday. A neighbor that owns a connected parcel of land has a unique drone and camera that allows him to pan the 88 acres that will be used this hunting season to map trails and plan for tree stand locations. My wife and I go to settlement on the 25th on the ground adjacent to us.
This will be quite an experience.

congrats on starting into what might become a very rewarding experience

One farmer on a non participating but adjacent land suggested we combine efforts and sell seasonal hunting leases to experienced hunters. We can offer successful hunts guaranteed or you can come back with a 3 day pass to try again. If he joins in it would essentially be the largest privately owned, continuous grounds in the county. We already have support by the PA Game Commission and an article is slated to be published in the October issue of the PA Farmer’s Resources Compendium by the Department of Agriculture Management.

The farmer took pictures of a car and a ‘60s truck in the over-growth on our upcoming lot. By his estimate they are pretty bad. Also discovered, 2 cast iron bathtubs filled with clear water. He said they are partially dug into the bank at the base of steep drop-off and adjacent stream. You can see evidence of a worn trail and long forgotten remnants of an old tree stand hanging by poison Sumac vines. I’ll post photos when I receive them.

sounds like the basics for a good small hunt area

By now it’s a safe bet nobody will take me up on my invitation to hunt here this season? 3AEBBE2A-14EA-4CB3-A72F-42634F322B5E.jpeg

The photo above was taken the afternoon after settlement two weeks ago. Remnants of an old Nash Ambassador was to the left, nothing worth salvaging, not even the vett.

Many of those cars could be saved not for concourse Pebbles Beach Show Quality Barret Jackson National TV but for Full Drag Car Caged builds.
Everything is built by hand every inner panel.
Eddie and me have done it a few times.
Huge amounts of work.
Between materials and labor need $20,000 cash at least to pay us.
Body work we do not do.

I’ve seen cars restored when there’s only a title and a VIN plate. Base cars are seldom worth the effort and the expense to restore
