Is this going to be a problem?

Do the manufactures design cars for little old ladies? The Catalina's steering in just 6" off the seat when the seat is all the way back. It's a pita not having tilt steering, so here's what I found.
I only ever installed/reinstalled the same for columns so I need to know if this is a bigger job than just a swapping of parts. Why is there so many wires for just a horn on the steering wheel?

internal plastic parts for the horn, flashers etc can be brittle missing broken etc but other than finding the parts and usually removing the front seat temporarily,
to allow my big old body to get access the process has not been overly difficult on the few Ive done ,
but then I only did steering column replacements on my 1968 corvette, my 1965 lemans, my 1996 bronco and a 2003 mercury,extra wires can relate to, emergency blinkers, cruise control, radio, interior lights, etc.

I forgot about the hazard lights and the turn signals, and the horn for the dozen wires on the replacement column.
I hope there is some useable parts in the fixed position column I now have.

I'm pissed at myself, I forgot the auction closed and I wasn't the last bidder. I'm not sure if it sold for sure because I thought I saw the price come up red, doesn't that mean it didn't meet reserve? if there was a reserve? I really need tilt if I'm going to drive this car.
When I was in Vegas a guy told me there are books that list part numbers for multiple or cross applications? He couldn't remember anything else. I'm wondering how shops are able to know what parts will fit other vehicles. Right now it would narrow down my search for a tilt column if for instance all "B" body columns fit each other. Any help would be appreciated.

Hollander interchange should list the cars you can swap columns from. Talk to your favorite junkyard/ auto parts recycle guy. Neutral safety and reverse lights switches may be on the column also.

After I wrote that I thought of the junk yard network. My guy has nothing really good. It seems junk yards open to the public don't have good useable older cars anymore. All you find are picked clean carcasses. It's to the point anymore when you need somethings you are better off buying a donor car from eBay, take off what you need and resell it again.

and what amazes me at times is that if you part out a car the process can very frequently take you several months to recoup your investment,
it can and frequently does leave you with a great many un-wanted parts.
but at the same time you can frequently buy a car take out what you need,
sell 3/4 of the remainder for more than you paid,
and still have a back yard full of un-sellable auto related crap.
Example
I had a friend recently buy a 1970 caddy with a 500 engine for $1000 to get the engine for his 56 buick
he sold the trunk, bumpers, hood doors grill, various interior, trim, and rear differential for a bit over $1280
the local salvage yard CHARGED him $200 to pick up the stripped shell as it had no engine and would not roll,
but he had what he wanted plus a transmission,and was about $80 ahead financially but he said his wifes 24/7 nagging about the
"NASTY OLD CAR IN THE BACK YARD"
made it hardly worth repeating
I told him ( YES MOSTLY JOKING) the quickest way to solve that issue would be a DIVORCE!

What your guy has is the INFORMATION you need, not necessarily the part. Using the Hollander they can tell you what models have a direct fit for the part you need.
