Looks normal after all

A truck of some kind. It's a 4-bolt

Looks like 2 people inspected that block, random Quality Control. I had a SBC 305 stamped like once. Just guessing, run both codes to ID the block, JMHO. The top number looks OEM to me.

Thanks, Gents.

The block is painted blue.

I'll start a new thread on this... if the block checks out it will be my foundation for a nice 383. The final product will be spritely, but the build will be leisurely.

No, anything can be painted for one reason or another, could be original corporate Blue, a remain block, or somebody wanted an up grade. No, number is in GM black book of production numbers.

That's a 1972 block, look at drivers side dipstick, 80 and newer mount passenger side lower on block closer to the pan rail. Also look at crank casting number, some of the early 80 model blocks had the early dipstick locales.

I just read the section of the book I got from the NCRS store Black
Book for warranty replacement blocks and production line transition ID. I assumed the second number was the one because the 72 number wasn't an LT-1 block and I don't see a 4 bolt main checked in the column for any 72 350 non LT-1. You guys know more than me that's for sure, good catch Bob!
