I have a fault code for 2 bad glow plugs in my LBZ Duramax. Am I asking for trouble replacing them with a cheap Autolite brand at $15 each compared to NGK brand at $30 or some other brands even higher?
Anybody ever change them? What is the best way?

Seems weird you'd have 2 go at the same time. I've had wiring go bad on my 7.3 in the F-350 and had to replace harness on one side.

I have to check the firing order, I hope #3 and 7 are on the passenger side to be easier access.
When I first checked the OBD it said #7 was bad. After awhile I forgot which one and tested again and it said #3 too.

I had 2 go out on my LBZ. They went out at around 150,000 miles, and weren't replaced until 2 years after. The truck started great every time, no matter the temp. I think -30*F was as cold as I tried. Ultimately they were replaced with the cheap ones to clear the dash light. The truck was parked with 405,000 miles, and they lasted the whole time. I miss that truck!!!

Good, I was looking for this answer. The glow plugs have been out for a couple years as well, it has a little longer cranking time then when it was new, I too just want to clear the check engine light. I have less than 60,000 on the OD.
Now I just have to figure out why it lurches forward when you come to a stop. I checked the U joints and couldn't find anything wrong. This truck never saw any work and with such low miles can their be a problem with the Allison transmission? Thanks Happy!

I had the same problem with mine. Whenever someone else from work would drive it, they would swear that the car behind them hit them when stopping at a light. A great deal of time was spent troubleshooting, but nothing could be found. Many miles later, when the power steering pump was replaced, the problem went away. Who would have thought...

That's EXACTLY as I would describe it! This is too freaky, my power steering is hard as hell to turn when moving out from a parking space. Seriously!
