I found a chromed GM alternator last week that requires an external voltage regulator. What years did GM run this type?

The early-type GM Delco Remy externally regulated alternators, used on GM vehicles from about 1963-1970.

So if you are running one and if you have the money and want to clean things up under the hood you could just install an alternator with an internal regulator and everything is good to go? I take it there isn't a retrofit to internalizing the regulator?

You can easily delete the external regulator or run it and have two regulators.

Thanks
Randy

I just wanted a free chromed alternator for someone that's buying and assembling some of my sbc high performance parts and this would look good together.
