Good News on the job front for me!

I just got back from a trip to Brownwood, Texas, a few of the guys from my former job went to work there. Well, last week I am sitting at home on thursday and my phone rings and I don't recognize the number. I answer and say Hello. "Bob is that you ?" I said yes," What are you doing?" It was my supervisor from my former job. I said just relaxing at the moment.
"Bob, you need to drive down here to Brownwood, my boss wants to talk to you about coming to work here!"
Little did I know that the plant manager was our plant manager here in WF, so I go today and show up about 1 pm. Well, my old supervisor walks into the receptionist desk area and says hello. He hands me a application, says to fill it out. Well, about five minutes later my old plant manager walks out and sits down while I am involved with the details of the application. I didn't see him, I was totally focused on what I was doing? He clears his throat, "Bob how are you doing fella?" I look up and there he is smiling at me. "Daryl Lanaville, wholly shit!" He says, "Bob we need you here, we need someone that know what he's doing! Jason is going to make you an offer! I am restarting our night shift and our Fabrication Department is overloaded beyond comprehension. The new guys are very green and I need you to head up their development. I know this is a surprise for you, but at Peerless I always admired your dedication to your work and always wanting to improve. You never demand, you take what you have and make the best of it." He patted me on the back and said they'd be with me in a few minutes and said, " I hope you join our team!"
This is a first for me, I have never been sought out for a job, I always have to look. With the slump of the election year I have been sorta depressed on the work availabilities in this area.
Well, anyway they made me the offer, which was what I was making at Peerless and then some. I will also get a shift differential for nights and another pay increase after my probationary period of 90 days.
A few of the guys I worked with before are driving down and staying in a motel and are needing more carpoolers to cut costs, so for the time being I will commute and come back on weekends. Eventually I will move down there, which will give me a relocation bonus. But, I am gainfully employed and will be able to start back up on my car.

I hope it works out EXCEEDING your expectations!

When it rains it pours I just got told the position for my promotion opened up at my job looks like I will be joining you in moving on up. Cheers

Way to go you two!

Now if you could help with my wage increase FREEZE. My boss went to India last summer and had a stroke. He was gone for 6 months while I did both jobs, taking care of 225 computer users. At least I have job, better than some.

Ok back to those hard working people above!

You remember - the guy who always had to slip in a line on every thread about
how his 1963 GranPrix with the 425A Olds engine was the baddest thing on the planet.

Well, made it to Brownwood and am antsy as all hell. First will be mostly orientation and then on to learning the CNC machines I will running
