whats needed in a fuel system upgrade?

I've pulled my c3 corvette engine and am having it freshened up. I'm also going to most likely have some head work done. After all that I'm also finally upgrading the carb from my Eddy Thunder Series 650 to a Holley Ultra Double pumper 750.

What I'm wondering is will my stock fuel system, which I've continued to use since I first built the motor 7yrs ago, continue to cut it? Or, do I need to beef up the fuel system?

I'm currently running a completely stock fuel setup... stock tank and pickup, stock hard lines, mechanical pump with a return, and a single feed to the Edelbrock 650.

I see my option as either being:

  1. Continue to use the stock system
  2. Get an upgraded mechanical pump (there don't seem to be any with a return port, so I'd also have to do a bypass regulator to retain the return line correct?)
  3. Upgrade to an electric pump, obviously the most involved.

I'd like to get away without whatever I can. I've read the mechanical pump is good up to about 450hp? I'm currently at about 430hp at the crank and looking at being somewhere between 450 and 500 when the motor is done.

What do you guys think?

If your current fuel tank or fuel lines can,t keep up with the engines demands, can you remove the current plate and fittings and drill and soldier in a larger dual fuel fittings
