Grumpy, you must have some thoughts on this.

OK, Ill bite! any time you see claimed hp gains, from any engine component,
being added or swapped, you have to think logically ,
what does the part in question do at least in theory ,and if it actually does do that,
what would be the potential change and what would it at least in theory do?
the only thing I see in the picture posted is a chain slack tension-er.
where can you expect to get the extra 7-30 hp it claims,
from, the parts that in theory simply take up some valve train, timing chain slack,
keep in mind a properly set-up timing chain and gear set,
should have been properly indexed and will have been set -up to provide consistent valve timing.
if you use quality components and have the cam properly indexed, theres already a consistent valve timing and very little variation in that cam timing ,
thats controlling the valve movement.
the picture seems to show a part designed to take-up timing chain slack, that wear over time will eventually produce in almost any timing chain, you can greatly reduce that by simply buying a good quality cloyes roller chain and sprocket set instead of a O.E.M. link chain.

TRUE DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING CHAIN SETS FROM QUALITY MANUFACTURERS TEND TO BE MORE DURABLE

the double roller cloyes timing chains tend to last longer before they wear and have excess slack
and they can be used with the stock O.E.M timing chain cover

a basic timing chain set like this from cloyes works great in most SBC applications and fits under the stock stamped steel timing cover

This looks like a darn bargain

yes there is a good reason to avoid those cheap import timing chain sets that auto parts stores frequently sell for under $30.........heres one with less than an hours of run time

AS a general rule LINK BELT style timing chains and gears are noticeably LESS DURABLE than CLOYES TRUE ROLLER DESIGNS

btw the multi part timing chain covers that allow a faster cam change are available at a not much increased price for some 1966-1990 BBC applications,
obviously youll want to ask questions and get the correct matched components for your application.

That kit "claims" variable valve timing. But I'm not seeing it. Just a timing chain with a tensioner.
