Griffin Pro Series Radiators

solid fixture here in the forum
Its Very Difficult to find a High Performance Radiator Guaranteed to meet your cooling needs at all times.
And to be able to Cool off 800-2000 HP in Summer time heat 85F-100+F.
And not Cost $800-900-$2,000 Bucks.
And No Made In China Bullsheet.
If you notice all the polished shiny aluminum radiators are made in China.
Does notta to keep an engine Cooled off.
Actually want Satin Finish Aluminum or Black Flat Paint.

Griffin Pro Series radiators meets those needs.
They are not direct fit.
They must be custom fitted to your car.
No Auto trans cooler provision.
You must run your own external trans cooler.

Summit Racing Lists 34 size options with Griffin Pro Series Radiators.
Despite what you hear and read Griffins are fully welded including the tubes to the radiator side tanks.
The Epoxy added is an added on reinforcement for High Vibration Racing applications.

I have to replace the radiator in the 63 Pontiac GP.
The 1970 Bonneville 455 Radiator I installed started seeping a few weeks back.
It lasted 48 years.
The Griffin 1-55272-X is the largest made in Pro Series. My pick to buy.
Going to order it this week.

what I find absolutely amazing is the number of people that have ordered replacement radiators ,
without accurately measuring the original radiator, and then accurately, measuring, the space its seated been in,
and the distance available in front of the O.E.M radiator and behind that original radiator,
if you want too select and install a thicker, more efficient heat transfer core, aftermarket radiator
thats thicker has more fins and surface area and larger coolant flow tubes.
one fact often over looked is that radiator designs vary wildly, and the number of fins per inch of surface area and width of radiator coolant flow tubes can significantly increase or decrease thermal heat transfer efficiency., fin counts vary from 8 to 22 fins per inch on various radiator designs Ive seen.

thus a radiator might measure say 18" tall by 24" wide but depending on design, and fin and tube count, might actually have a radically more or less efficient heat transfer rate.

Yes. I measured Grumpy.
The 1970 Bonneville Radiator is a slight bit longer.
See how the Griffin Pro works out for me.
The Summit Racing Feedback is pretty good.

I made the order to Summit Racing For my Griffin Pro Series Radiator.
Hopefully have it this weekend.
I also have a New Moroso Trans cooler to go with it. The Big One.
Bought it last fall along with 20 feet of 6AN Teflon lined Areoquip Race Hose, all the Steel AN Fittings , & The Special TH 400 AN Adapters To the Trans case.

The Griffin Pro Radiator has been shipped.
Should be here Friday. 24 more hours.

Bought a New set of Moroso Magneto Solid core ignition wires too.
The Radiator leak sprayed coolant on the #1 spark plug wire boot.
Arced right through and caused a bad #1 misfire.
Made a temporary repair yesterday at work and put a Ford plug wire end on.
Ticks me off, They were special Taylor Magneto Only ignition wires that costed $150 bucks.
Oh well. No one every said this hobby is inexpensive.

Going to have about $700 bucks in upgrades & repairs in the 63 Pontiac Grand Prix soon.

Should have seen that #1 misfire in the Dark.
Vertex Magnetos Hit so Hot.
Like a Bolt of Lightning going off under the hood.

Took a close look last night.
Looks like I may have to fabricate some brackets for the Trans cooler & maybe the new radiator.
Likely need 4 feet of stainless steel flat stock 3/16" thick.
The deep grilles on the 63 GP takes up alot of room in front of the radiator but I think the Moroso cooler will just fit.
The styling of the car actually takes up lots of underhood room.

No one is making Performance Alkyd plastic distributor Cap & Rotors for the 1985-1991 Corvettes no longer Grumpy.
They had the screw down large HEI Caps.
Davis DUI no longer has.
Accel discontinued.
Found a NOS #8131 Accel kit.
Buying it for the 87 Vette. Need it.

No stores around have the Accel 8131 C4 Corvette 1985-1991 HEI Screw down cap and rotor kits.
Only a few left on Ebay.
I bought mine a bit ago.

They are making it real hard to keep it all Made In The USA Grumpy.
Refuse China Crap on my cars & trucks.

Pretty soon to keep a C4 Corvette going it will be china crap Grumpy.

Unless Its a Big Block Chevy Swap.

well if you do go the BBC powered C4 corvette,
power route be sure to document the process in detail with dozens of clear pictures

I still have the 1984 vintage Tall Deck 427 longblock.
496 not in the budget.
Plausible to pull it off.

The Griffin Pro Series Radiator is made Very Nice.
Billet Radiator Neck too.
No Epoxy, Fully Furnace Brazed.

The Moroso Solid Core Ignition Wires are for Vertex Magneto Use only.
Could be used on Late model EFI cars but likely drive the computer nuts from Extreme RFI- EMI radiation.

that looks like well made quality parts

Working on the Corvette today Grumpy.
Its finally warming up here.
45 F today & Sunny.
Like a Heatwave compared to past 2 weeks.
Found the Mass Air Flow sensor is reading incorrect with my ancient Snap On MT2500 Red Brick Snanner fromthe 1990s.
Still works and gets the job done.
Burnoff relay died again.
Needs to work to clean off that platinum wire that reads airflow.
Tracking found it today the Relay.
Then going to pull the leaking radiator out of the 63 Gp.
Form a blueprint plan to fab brackets needed to mount the trans cooler and new radiator.
No stainless flat stock local.
Found it online to buy.
Check with Mopar Bob at his work too. Get me some 3/16 " 304 stainless 2" x 36"-48" .
Want it nice.
TIG Welded aluminum brackets be nice but Crazy Ed and me are not getting along.
Has been Anti Pontiac & Anti Corvette to me lately.

Ford is losing in Street Outlaws as you know also.
