Hello forum members and Grumpy.

I'm a newbie but approaching 62 years on the planet.

I've never owned or even driven a performance vehicle let alone a corvette. That changed recently when i acquired a 1991 c4 convertible.

At many junctures I've had a number of experiences and achievements that were over the top at least in my view. Hee hee. That doesn't mean I've been exceptionally successful in various endeavors but, so to speak, I've left my mark. So what the hey does that have to do with things on this forum? Ha!

Welp, the c4 is over the top by some measures. It's a 454 conversion with plenty of room for tinkering, upgrades and general messing around. So Mr. Grumpys site seems like the place the c4 and owner might fit in.

Unfortunately I'm not much of a mechanic and me bank account is quite slender. I'll figure things out as i go.

I actually haven't taken possession of the vehicle at this point but, it's paid for and the title is transferred to my name. The vehicle is located in a southern state. I haven't been able to locate a reasonable shipping price. We've had a somewhat tough winter up here near the Canadian border. I credit the poor shipping rates to the weather and road conditions. I'm gambling the rates will come down now that snow is melting off and its warming up.

In the meantime, I've been doing what i can while waiting and the seller has been kind in helping me proceed/progress in some manner.

Actually there are several unknowns with this c4 as the original builder passed away. However all indications are that the build is quite good.

A once nonexistent heater core is now in the car and plumbed to a electric water pump. Right now the big fat carburetor has been removed and a edelbrock proflo xt efi is being installed.

I'm planning on having the c4 here within the next 2 weeks.

That's my story and intro.

IMPRESSIVE! WORK,SO FAR, I 'm curious what work remains to be completed,
And I'm reasonably sure the stock hood can,t be closed as it is currently with that engine and intake in place
I like BBC C4 corvette engine swaps a lot!
can you PLEASE post several more similar pictures from different angles and post a good deal,
more info on your engine swap, the parts (part numbers would be nice)used ,
the problems over come , the drive train, and the mods you made to get it to fit and run correctly.
(now obviously after you get the car delivered it may not be ready to drive as delivered,
so take lots of clear pictures and we ,

website, members, will do our best to help you work through any remaining issues,
or make appropriate choices and mods required.)
Im sure many members want to know details as no two of these swaps are identical, what engine mounts, exhaust manifolds or headers, what windshield wiper motor,
what cylinder heads, brackets accessories, damper, fan belt(s) pulleys, transmission, torque converter or clutch, transmission, radiator etc. was used?

Grumpy you may actually be familiar with this car. The conversion was done by a gentleman in Florida who has taken his journey into the mystic realm. The title was registed to a person named John K in 2009. The fellow i bought it from is in Mississippi.

I don't have the original preconversion images but will update as things progress.

The engine is a gen4, balanced etc. The seller tells me the motor and 700r4 trans are built. However, not a lot is known about the internals since i don't know how to communicate with the dead. I've been told disassembly is the only way to confirm the elements of the build. Apparently it will burn out at hiway speeds if you floor it. I'll have to try not to rod it and break the trans etc.

Differential is a dana 44; again with final gears unkown.

Hood has the greenwood bubble with a hole in it to accommodate the air filter on the carb. Carburetor is gone now and a little more hood cutting will be required to accommodate the efi as it is tall towards the front.2289.jpeg

I believe it will be fun Maniac! Thanks attitude! I am worried I'll scare myself though. Ha ha

This purchase/endeavor is somewhere between midlife crisis and bucket list. I guess you could throw show off in there somewhere too. :)

Grumpy if money were no object I'd do the tci 6 speed. The interior is tired but acceptable. I ordered a touchscreen multimedia radio and backup cam thingee and speakers since theres no music. Perhaps sound proof/deaden the interior. Newer red leather sport seats are ordered... so a little at a time until I'm broke or satisfied.

Its a Z51 option car or FX3 suspension on your 1991 C4.
Yellow Bilstein shocks & they look original.

Optional or standard equipment I should say on a 1984-1996 Z51, 1987 & 1988 only Z52, FX3, & all 1990-1995 C4 ZR-1 DOHC Lotus .

When You Receive Your Corvette Open the Center console glove box .
On the Lid is all the option codes.
Where they put them on C4 Roadsters.

Mine is a 87 Roadster.
Always wanted a Hardtop for mine but researching 1986 & 1987 Have unique Decklids from the Later C4 Convertibles.

Maniac, no fx3 or ride control switches on the console though i wish there were. I looked into upgrading to fx3 but dang, the prices were krazee!!! I was told the ride is harsh/stiff so meebe z51. I'll accept your conclusion cause i have no idea whatsoever ha ha ha. Thanks for the info! It will be sometime before i get up to speed on this.

I'm pleased with the hardtop... I'd hate to have my head scrapped of in a rollover... besides pesky kid vandals love to perforate those soft tops.

There's no ac since the conversion. I suppose I'll have to rob the piggy bank at some point and get that fabbed up at some point.

Thanks for the welcomes!

If someone poked holes in My Corvette soft Top I would put holes in them.
They are Fun to Drive C4s.
If the ride is too harsh for you install Base Model Convertible front & rear leaf springs .
Mine is a Z52 model.
Ride is decent.
They are all harsh over rough roads.
Once you hit speeds 80 & above all else is crap you have driven prior.
They are made for High Speed Driving.
Only my 70 T/A has the same feel driving.

the corvette looks like it should be fun, I,d need to see more details to be sure if I've seen the car before.
and yeah, I'm all too familiar with not having the easy access to cash flow to buy all the potential parts you would love to have,
and fabricate and install all the mods required to complete a project
