These buttons have been burning a hole in my cap after about 600-800 miles. I found out that MSD carries the low resistance buttons and trying it now. But I was curious if I can measure the resistance of this button to compare with a regular one.
I did a comparison test, a regular MSD button (which comes with a new Cap) vs the low resistance and they both measured around 60 - 70 ohms. Not sure if this is a proper test procedure? As I'd have to purchase a $14 button every time I do a tune up.
I measured the previous button that burned out the cap and it read over 2 Kohms. So I don't know if the bad button was always this high in resistance or if it went bad and resistance went higher.
I am running MSD6AL, HEI with built in 'Hi Performance coil' (suppose to be higher voltage i was told)
I also regapped my plugs from .45 to .38.
