Rear change, now a speedo gear question

I just changed from a 2.59 to 3.07 in my '95 A4. From reading other boards (not as good as this one BTW) and asking others, I've got conflicting opinions on the neccessity to change the drive gear. I've been told (or read) I need to change the drive & driven gear, OR just the driven gear OR remount the VSS 180 degrees and replace just the driven gear. I figure if anyone would know, it would be the people on this board.
I ordered a (green) 45 tooth driven gear from Bowtie, but not sure what else needs to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey Jimmymack

I'm about to do the same repair.
I'm told the driven gear is the one that wears out
I bought the same gear and will attempt a swap this weekend
Good luck

The 3.07 C4 VSS Speed Adapter is hard to find.
I have one somewhere here.
It's identical on the 4+3 Both Warner 4-speed with the Doug Nash Overdrive.

The Tailshaft Drive gear can stay .
Need the correct 3.07 VSS adapter with matching driven gear for 3.07 diff.

Some guys had luck using the 2.59 & 2.73 VSS.
Others reported it leaked bad.

I recall 2 different speedo VSS adapters.
May be all the same.

Have to find the one I got from a Dana 44 C4 car. 3.07 gears.
Got it from Vette2Vette.
Searched the shelves myself in person .
Back 2009.

I pulled it from a 4+3 Super T10 Doug Nash overdrive equipped C4 Vette.
All used 3.07 rear diff gears 1984-1988.

I know its different from my 1987 Corvette C4 700R4 Speedo adapter with 2.73 diff gears Dana 36.
Its the offset.
On my car now its all plastic.

Have to go back in Corvette Forum Archives.
Search on this topic.

Try what You have.
See if it lines up or not.

I recall Guys saying they Gooped Silicone allover to stop the leaks.
Bending the Clamp to hold down.

I know what I have because I pulled it myself.
