hello from michigan

Unforgiven

solid fixture here in the forum
hello everyone, Been reading this forum for a long time and figured I should join. I have not own a street car in quite some time but I do own a 1987 chevy truck that I have transformed into a mud beast. :) I am currently
rebuilding my 1969 block, 383 blower motor to run on e-85 fuel. Race fuel is to expensive to just run for fun. I look forward to chatting with you guys and learning from new ideas and the new technology that has evolved. My given name is Jim .

Thanks guys! been exploring the site and come accross the donation thread. Not sure how to send it. tried garage.grumpsperformance.com in the paypal box but it is requesting an @ be placed somewhere.

just got Pay Pal figured out and sent off the first $20.. for the wealth of knowledge here it is well worth it! thanks for having me

thank you for helping offset our operational expenses, and thank you for joining thee forum

Thought I would share my project: I started with a 1987 chevy pickup and removed the body and started to design and modify the frame and suspension to withstand the nightmares this truck was obviously having ( judging by the way how hard this truck fought me during the build).
I installed Gm face loader 2 1/2 ton axles with 6.17 gears to turn 44" tall agg tires to start with. The front axle has a reverse rotating gear so instead of flipping the chunk and lowering the pinion I decided to remove the TH400 and transfer case and install a 2 wheel drive TH400 and a very hard to find divorced transfer case designed to be used with that front axle. I designed a parallel 4 link up front to accommodate the leaf spring set-up and a slider
ladder bar set-up for the rear. To power this truck I installed a 383 N/a stroker for the first year. I later installed a 177 weiand and really woke it up.
I was running vp112 for fuel and after a year or so I eventually come to the conclusion that it was just to expensive. I am now installing a 12 point cage and rebuilding the 383 to run on e-85 with around 10-12 psi boost with that same blower. This truck has fought me all the way through the process, and thats how it got its name. I have included a few pics below.IMG_0404.PNG IMG_0491.JPG IMG_0576.PNG IMG_0575.JPG truck pull.jpg

thank you for posting the pictures of your truck
theres more than just a few similar trucks down here in florida, mud bogging is popular in some groups

I will start a thread on the rebuild as soon as I start. I am re-organizing my barn at the moment. It got way out of hand during the last truck build I did for my nephew. also starting my 12 point roll cage install for my truck tomorrow. I bought the kit from Jegs. I positioned the main hoop last night. Im not comfortable with the upper hoop size, it seems to small and looks like it is going to be right over my head.:( I just may have to bend up a new one. May start a thread on it too!:)

please take lots of clear detailed pictures of that roll cage project
