Now I know this is likely a hypothetical never happen question?
but picture the ramifications ,your in a state that allows concealed carry,
and your carrying both a revolver and a blade concealed, you have a concealed carry permit.
your standing in line at some bank, atm, business and some guy walks in
, announces a hold-up and points a pistol waving it around demanding everyones wallet ,
he fires a shot into the ceiling, he acts like hes on drugs,
you feign compliance, you know if you fire a pistol the bullet may punch through the criminal, and injure others,
but as you reach for your wallet, your hand comes up with a significantly sized
single edge blade

, and in a blur you nearly be-head the creep in a serious throat slash.
as you knock the pistol hes holding out of alignment with your body,
now the creeps dead, theres blood everywhere and the lawyers
want you up for murder.charges
how likely are you to go to prison for killing the jerk in self defense?

In my state... VERY likely
But given the hypothetical situtation.. I'd risk it

Damn... Now i,m going to be red flagged!

There won't be time to run up and slash the guys throat.
Takes 2-5 seconds to get that close.
Have a gin shoot him dead.

Throw the knife.
Aim for his heart.
Stomach.
Head.
Groin privates.
Be last resort.
Gun 1st.

Just hope Democrats not present.

Can just leave.
What I would do.

Obviously no one would ever want too be confronted in a do or die confrontation,
and with only a second or two between your actions and potentially being killed,
the stress level may not give you much of a chance to think rationally,
I completely concur that the witness testimony, and any video recordings, are going to be profoundly key,
and how seriously threatened, and scared the people felt, and how relieved they felt,
resulting from that lethal imminent, threat, being negated by your actions,
that individually perceived and personally felt threat,
would have a profound effect, and leave a lasting impression on the witnesses,
and on how the local l.e.o's and legal system assessment of that obviously potentially mortal confrontation,
and the individuals risk they personally felt at the time, was viewed by the local legal system.
people are used to endlessly viewing people being shot on the T.V. and movies and internet,
but being close too and seeing the results of a great deal of blood and being personally involved,
in the immediate aftermath is a different deal for most people.
hell, many people seem to think MEAT, LIKE STEAK, GROWS,
on little cardboard trays under clear plastic stretch wrap.

You would have to be A True Ninja Warrior Grumpy to get instant close enough and slash the Offenders throat before he squeezed the trigger on his gun and fired off shots at you.

Or Be Bruce Lee or his son Brandon Lee.
Both gone now.

trust me when I state, that I know from decades of martial arts,
practice and experience,
that if someones already in or close to in arms reach,
a blade in trained hands,
is far faster too use and harder to block,
in a trained blade wielders hands that a pistol is in most people hands,
due to slow reaction time.
no I would not rush from a distance but at arms reach its really in the blade holders advantage

watch this video,

Interesting.
To do it most can not Grumpy.
Have to be aware at all times and assume the worst case scenerio.
Ready for Battle.
Play out different to win tactics in your mind.

I just missed being involved in a robbery at a local store that I go to every day I heard they got robbed by a machete bandit when I asked the clerk about it he said Ray you weren't even out of the parking lot when it happened. Now I don't know what I would have done but I'm glad I was gone

Well, I was involved in a situation! But I was not close to the Bandit, but the guard was, apparently adept in martial arts! Took all of 2 seconds the extended a wheel kick and knocked him cold! So it is possible for people with proper training to diffuse a situation quickly!

There used to be another moderator on Digital Corvette.
Grumpy recalls well.
Junk.
He was black.
Every second was similar Bob.

The re for cops is a knife under 21 ft is within deadly range. I spent 14 years as a custom knifemaker and I can tell you a knife can be very quick in the right hands.

Most people believe, From watching TV that once shot you are dead. It takes a few seconds to go into shock unless the bullet hits the spine, head or other vital part. Inside 5-10 feet I'd use the knife while deflecting the gun up or down. I was 18 when a young man lost his life outside of where I was working. He died 10 minutes later, after bleeding out. He was hit in the neck, head and two in the chest from about 15 feet. Close range, the knife would be the best bet. Unless you are holding a shot gun or full auto gun. ( Which we don't have access to ).
