how many of you ladys and gentlemen have taken the time to get your concealed carry licence?

I have made damn sure both my sons and wife all went through both the states hunter safety course to get their hunter safety certificates,and concealed carry licence classes and have the CCW permits.
all the adults in my family are familiar with the safe use of firearms.
I made darn sure my sons had good familiarity with firearms well before they were 7-8 years old and had passed those state required licence course's as soon as they were allowed too.
Id also strongly suggest owning a high quality safe for storing and weapons your not manually and daily carrying, as you don,t want to be a contributing factor in anyone who is un-authorized gaining access to any weapons you own, or doing something stupid with them if they got access.

I've always been amazed at the number of the guys I know that carry a handgun,
but when we go to a local pistol range they really are not very skilled,accurate or well practiced!
having skill with weapons is not like knowing how to change a flat tire, if you take an extra few minutes ,
too get a tire changed no one will notice or care, but if you fail to operate a weapon smoothly,
quickly and effectively when its badly needed in defense of your family or yourself, and you could be dead.
if your going to carry you've mentally made or should have made the commitment to both,
know how to use your weapon of choice effectively and commit to practice with it until you have ,
at least marginally better than acceptable skill using it.
(and using it might mean killing someone in defense of your life or your family)
honestly, if you can,t smoothly and reasonably quickly, un-holster a pistol and place a couple rapid shots in a target reasonably close,
too the intended impact point, at at least 15 yards (better yet 20 yards),
your very unlikely to come out as a winner in a life & death confrontation,
with some low life who would think little about committing a violent even lethal crime.
to maintain any manual skill takes both frequent practice and constant repetition,
and a mental attitude that mandates you'll do anything required to defend yourself and family if forced too.
(the key here is constantly being well aware of your surroundings,
avoiding going into any risky area any time you can,
traveling in small groups, if you can, and doing anything you can to avoid a confrontation,
having a weapon , does not in any way mean your justified in using it,
unless your really threatened with serious violence.
its simply a tool that gives you a much better chance of survival,
if your forced to confront a lunatic, or antagonistic criminal,
who is armed , and with obvious lethal intentions,
(remember you will have to justify ALL your actions in court in many areas.)
like having several fire extinguishers in your home and shop,
you hope you'll never need too use them but your damn glad you have one handy if its suddenly required!
Id point out that even showing or indicating the intention of use of a concealed carry firearm,
without being justified by the current or very obviously evident to everyone concerned,
prevention of a felony already obviously in progress,
could cause you to lose your CCW licence, and YOU PERSONALLY having,
huge legal and financial problems where YOU get charged with a crime!

My wife also has hers.
I carry nearly everyday, however i don't at work due to policies...

It's a pita, but i keep it interesting where ever possible, large selection of different guns, and i make my own holsters so it makes life a bit easy.

I’ve had a permit 9 years plus. Use to go the shooting range twice a week, once for the club and another day for myself. I made Marksmen 1st grade spring 2011. Haven’t shot for almost 2 years now.

I've had mine for 20 + years the only time I don't carry is when I work at the school

Both my wife and I have our CCW permit from Florida and Georgia. She always carries hers and I do sometimes. Both our sons are permitted and carry regularly, along with my 22 y/o grandson. We're serious about protection.
