10.1 + boost

Hi every one

I have a procharger sitting on my work bench waiting for a few bucks to buy parts I need to complete it

I have a 383 stroker forged internals, Pro 1 aluminum heads, stealth ram intake it just little under 10.1 compression

How much boost can I run? it will be intercooled the procharger guys tell me upto 9lb boost with the right tune I'm thinking of 7 or 8lb of boost

do any of you guys run boost on or near 10.1 compression?

I know for boost I should have a lower compression engine just swapping heads right now is out of the question :?

also keep in mind carb jetting or injector sizes, ignition curves and fuel pressure will need to change from the N/A combo and the cam and octane used SHOULD change and an intercooler can be used with either a turbo or a centrifical supercharger, a oil cooler , large capacity oil pan and a heavy duty radiator will be a very good idea

thanks for all the links

tons of info that i really dont under stand, I guess I'll be reading for quite a while

some of that was for turbo's I was told with a supercharger/intercooler you can run more boost then a turbo setup (not sure its what I was told) because your not dealing with the exhaust heat

:?

turbo, or supercharger makes no differance at all to an intercooler ,what does make a differance is heat level of the air in vs the expected heat transfer, and air temp as it exits the size of the passages and the surface area of the cooler fins and rate of flow and the efficiency of the intercooler, yes your correct turbos do tend to run hotter IN some applications but not all.

Thanks grumpy!

I read the top 3, pretty good stuff

14psi on a 10.1 engine they got guts!

every one tells me 7 to 9lb is very do able w/intercool

I really dont think i'll push it over 8lb of boost

any combo you built with 10:1 cpr would produce better hp and be less prone to detonation with the proper cam, the correct inter-cooler and high octane fuel like E85 or race gas and only 8:1 cpr, its simply a mater of the volume available over the piston in the combustion chamber that your packing with the fuel/air mix, before the cylinder pressure levels get you into detonation, you can generally pack an additional 10%-15% more fuel air mix into each power stroke to burn before peak pressures get critical with the lower static compression ratio.
but be aware matching the parts to the application and running higher octane fuel like E85 will be mandatory

Grumpy you really know a bunch! and under stand it all!

I'm having a problem comprehending lot of this, I thought I knew alot about engine and cars and felt good taking on this build only to find out I really had no clue

I've learned alot and still tring to figure out the rest

but let me ask you with my cam how would you feel about 7 to 9lb boost on 93 octaine?

this is a link the the spec's of the cam
