1971 Pontiac GTO 455 RPO L-75 325HP & 455Ft/lbs Brought Home

That's Johns air cleaner base video. He's up in GA, built a early 2nd gen TA pro touring car and now he's building another TA just for for vintage racing. Helped spec out the custom 18" wheels last week or the week before. We're gonna meet up at a track and run our cars together when they're both done. Not many of us with road race prep early 2nd gens, most know each other. He's got a lot more power but I'll have the aero stuff. If it's a big track like Road Atlanta or Sebring he'll smoke me on the long straights.

I am going after Hellcats Midnight Street Racing Birdman.
All of Digital Corvette Failed.

Good Luck Birdman Road Racing.
Long Live Poncho Pontiac V8 Power.

The E/I ratio of E Poncho heads is not that good Grumpy .500-.800" lift.
Almost designed intentionally for Cast iron manifolds.
My Factory 614's are better balanced E/I
75 %.

Id strongly suspect they (EDELBROCKS DESIGN ENGINEERS) were looking at the muscle car restoration and street strip performance market, and its far larger monetary potential, far harder than the true race engine builders concerns, during the developement process, of the pontiac cylinder heads.
ID bet 90% plus of all the pontiac cams being sold have under .600 LIFT AND THE VAST MAJORITY ARE HYDRAULIC LIFTER DESIGNS

MANY CAM SUPPLIERS NO LONGER EVEN BOTHER LISTING PONTIAC, BUICK , OLDS,PLYMOUTH,AND CADDY CAMS AS THE MARKET IS SIGNIFICANTLY SMALLER THAN FORD,CHEVY,CHRYSLER ETC.
YES THE DODGE CAMS GENERALLY FIT THE SIMILAR PLYMOUTH/CRYSLER ENGINES BUT IF YOUR REAL YOUNG YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW THAT

I have put together 340, 383 RB & 440 RB Wedge engines with my Bud Mopar Bob when I was 28 in 1997-98.

E Head intake ports a bit large for my liking .
Exhaust port small like I always thought compared to my 614 Ram Air 4's.
Fupler must spend his time on Exhaust side.

The Ram Air 4 cars are known for picking up 1--1-1/2 seconds lower ET with JR Long Tube headers installed back in the day.

yeah! the MPH advantage of the two GTO's going through the light sensor traps in the posted videos indicates very competitive power levels

I certainly remember buying pontiac parts from bobby johns in the mid-late 1960s at his tire store

I read Grumpy.
NASCAR History is interesting in the Deep South.
I have heard of Bobby Johns prior.
A Pontiac 421in a 1957 Chevy would be a bad sin today.
Lol.

Enjoyed the article . Thanks.
