1977 Camaro Z28 Resto Mod Build

Not sure on yours, but some had an asymmetrical shaped cross member after 1975 when converters were introduced.

Some cars didn't have any clearance, or hump, on the drivers side crossmember for an exhaust pipe.

Hopefully yours is symmetrical with exhaust pipe clearance on both sides.

Image of home made crossmember exhaust clearance.

Thanks
Randy

Yeah, mine is not symmetrical. I tried putting in some 70-74 floor pans and they were not even close to the cross members.

Interesting, I would have guessed the floor pans would interchange,

So much for guessing!!

Waiting for more pics :D

Thanks
Randy

I put 70-74 floor pans in a 76? Camaro about a year ago. Some pie cutting and minor fabrication on the drivers side was needed in the area where the park brake cable mount is and on the passengers footwell where the support brace convertor hump is. The owner of the car had gotten the pans with purchase of the car and insisted on using them if there was any way possible (even if it cost more in labor). It can be done but isn't pretty or correct when done.

I think you may be right about the driver's side. It is the passenger side where the cat is (I think there is only one, on the passenger side).
