Hi,

A friend bought '80 Delta88. The open differential spiders are welded toghether, which of course is not the best street solution. The axle is 7.5", which makes no sense to fix and invest on.

Now searching replacement axle. I guess any 77-85 rwd b-body (77-96 caprice) sedan axle will do? Howabout pre '77 8.875" 12-bolt car axles. ie from Caprice/Impala, yet it's a B-body eventhough bigger. is the frame still the same? would the shock, control arm and springs bolt right up to '80 - if correct axle width can be found?

Thanks.

if your going to the trouble cost and effort,
to replace the anemic 10 bolt differential,
get something worth all that trouble cost and effort,
1.847.663.1701 call the guys at strange/axles

it will be cheaper and faster in the long haul to
buy a high quality S60 rear differential,
designed to bolt into place thats significantly stronger than even a 12 bolt rear will ever be!
ask questions, yeah the cost looks high at first but by the time you buy and modify and install a 12 bolt differential,
with the correct gear ratio you want, add brakes, shocks, u-joints,
the true cost won,t be that much different in most cases.
it will also add a good deal more value when you go to sell the car later.
