1984 egr delete

I know some of you have ported their crossfire intake and Ive seen most grind out the egr 'port " on the top side of the inside of the intake. What effect does this have on an engine (383 with aluminum heads 10:1 comp.) and does the ecm need to have a new programed chip ? another words should I do it or just port runners and leave egr intact? Thanks

YES READING LINKS AND SUB LINKS NOW ,CAN SAVE YOU A GOOD DEAL OF TIME AND EFFORT , AND WASTED CASH LATER

Yeah I know your convinced you can port the existing cross fire intake and improve flow significantly, Ive seen a bunch of guys try it in several ways, some with rather extensive cutting and welding, the results are seldom worth the effort, and theres far better options, if i wanted it to look stock, the renegade intake http://www.crossfireinjection.net/catalog.htm
by the time you spend the money on a die grinder, compressor ,hoses, burrs, flapper rolls and a vacuum ,youll see why I suggested it

is the route Id take, if I wanted even better performance theres several other options
