I've never been in that situation to need it but its nice to have it there just in case would you test it out sometimes just for whatever mine should work but its been years since I've used it even regular 4x4 it dont get used much except for a couple years ago on my way to work in early AM we had a surprise big snow and the farther north I went the worse it got I put it in 4 wheel and made a path for everyone else my partner was running about 1/2 hour behind me said all he did was follow my tracks but I learned that day they don't take care of the roads the same as around the city

I like the ground clearances a large Fullsize 4×4 truck has also.
I can turn around in Highway ditches, like on Interstate 80 and I -55 Chicago when there is an accident ahead and traffic jammed up for next 1 -8 hours.
See small cars and modern tiny 4x4 AWD vehicles attempt turning around ditches.
They get hung up on the main Unibody frames.
I have seen the entire front and Rear strut assemblies ripped out with wheels laying along side outside what was under thier vehicles.
I just put the 1999 Chevy Tahoe in 4x4 Low hitting the switch on the dashboard.
Goose it the gas and go right through ditches and turn around.
Take the back roads then.
Everyone looks they destroyed thier modern Dinky useless .
