It takes a real idiot to lift a car without checking everything twice. My lift came with a binder (attached to the lift by a cable) that shows the lifting points on most every car after 1958). As I get the tires off the floor a few inches I try to rock the front and rear bumpers to check balance and check the hydraulic weight scale on the front and rear lift arms. I have a few adjustable tower stands just in case I need to unload some heavy weighted item like a rear.

I watch a kid at a muffler shop just kick the swing arms under the car and go directly to raise the vehicle. I think the car rested on the rockers.

Atco Dragway is only about 15 minutes from my house, the Vette was probably picked up at Kerbeck in Atlantic City also not far from me,I think thay had 8 pre orders delivered last week.
I spent many Fridays (at Atco) waiting first inline for the gates to open at 5 to race my (then) brand new 1994 Formula until it got too crowded from the bikes and loud wenkel rotary imports later in the night to make a decent return back in line. It was a workout stuffing a set of drag slicks and floor Jack in the rear hatch and chaining everything to the fence while trying a few passes.

yeah, you need to have several guys go as a group, so while one or two guys stage and race,
two or three other guys you can trust (not just wives or girl friends)
keep a close watch on trucks, trailers and tools and equipment in the pits and parking areas

that little mistake cost someone their job and the dealer an easy $80K plus
can you imaging being the owner of a new corvette you most likely waited a year for ,
and see the dealership mechanic do this to your car

In N.C. I would NOT accept any repairs to that car, only a NEW replacement car as it will then have an attached designation as salvaged to the Title.

One of my neighbors owns a NJ Honda dealership. He bought his at his buddy’s Chevy dealer and just last month he brought over to my house. It’s loaded with problems, some parts look like cheap plastic. It’s too tight for me to get in just yet. My impression - it’s like a knock-off of a fancy European kit car. GM took his complaints and gave him an extended warranty, an all expense paid trip to the factory and The Heritage so he can keep things to himself.

I was at a Sears Auto center years ago getting tires mounted and balanced. Watched a tech drive a customer’s car in a work bay, get out and just kick the lift arms to swing under the car. Never bothered to see if the arms stopped to a good position under the car.
He pulled the lever down to raise the car while eye-balling a woman customer talking to another tech. When he stopped the lift the car rocked, I thought it was gonna go for sure.

I wouldn’t buy the new one, I hear the owners complaining and all the insurance companies have doubled comp and collision coverage over the C7. Emeril Lagasse is my neighbor 2 driveways up and selling his for $120,000. Already has 30,000 plus miles on it, wiped his 2nd front airdam off and his kid managed to burn off the rear tire at Carlisle last month.

Seems like there’s a hell of a lot more of those around than what they say, there’s 4 in my community and my 82 y/o brother in law just traded in his 2015 for one in June. I’ll stick to what I got.

Roads are too bad here to drive around blind in a Corvette now.
Only a small handful of country roads left in good shape. Around me .
