It takes a real idiot to lift a car without checking everything twice. My lift came with a binder (attached to the lift by a cable) that shows the lifting points on most every car after 1958). As I get the tires off the floor a few inches I try to rock the front and rear bumpers to check balance and check the hydraulic weight scale on the front and rear lift arms. I have a few adjustable tower stands just in case I need to unload some heavy weighted item like a rear.
I watch a kid at a muffler shop just kick the swing arms under the car and go directly to raise the vehicle. I think the car rested on the rockers.
