301 SBC (bored 283) slingshot dragster

Nice Mike.
Byron Dragway is my Hometown Dragstrip so to speak. Its 70 miles North of me on I-39 Interstate.
Seen the Twin Nuke Power Plant Reactors. I knew it was Byron, IL.
As You run down the 1320 your racing toward the Power plant its Kool.

I thought it was Eddie Betz old 301 World Record setting back in the day Dragster.
A local legend he passed on a long time ago.
But Eddie had a 1957 Pontiac 9.3 rear diff narrowed with 5.57 Gears I recall Vivid.
I was at a car show with my 1970 T/A back 1996.
Pulled in engine loping heavy He yelled Pontiacs Are sheet kid lets Race ! Had his Dragster there.
I said OK Eddie lets line them up Now out here !
He laughed....Said Nice Pontiac Kid sounds good too !

My late Bud Bill helped Eddie with building that 301.

There is about only 6 parts to that entire dragster. I love the simplicity!
Chassis, engine, gearbox, differential, 4 wheels (2 from a bicycle), 1 oil pressure gauge. No radiator. No battery. Magneto ignition.
I love the way that thing jumps straight off of the ground. The driver's hands are only inches from the back tires.
