400ci small block fuellie heads which cams should be used

I understand.
Ill post the pics later or try a smaller resolution.
Anyway block and heads look great.
We'll fit the engine in the car and on my rolling road. Any suggestions on how to lock the 350?
3 speed auto?

Speaking of generations.
I have learned my start of my trade from a 72 year old man called Arthur archer in UK.
I try to pass what I have learned on to my students. But it is hard...

Are you guys wanting to help me out on some other projects?
I have a 1935 bugatti type 55 I need to make camshaft and buckets for....

It's for a type 55 bugatti.
I'll post the original drawings later.
They are very nicely designed with different radii

clear detailed pictures might be useful?
do you have the old parts?
the more experienced and older cam manufacturers
,places like crane , isky, and crower can either weld up, harden, and regrind cam lobes or make parts from scratch but as mentioned its not cheap

No we haven't but I have the original drwaings

Right first question.
How are the pins lubricated in these pistons?
Do they just get oil from underneath the scraper ring ? On the arias pistons we normally get there is a little channel that feeds the pin.
On our kb pistons there doesn't seem to be anything...20180519_140746-1620x1620.jpg 20180519_140732-1620x1620.jpg

pins are generally oiled by a constant bath of oil mist (monsoon) in the lower crank case,
youll generally lube the piston pin bores with MOLY assembly lube , during the initial assembly.
some engines add pin oilers and piston dome coolers

Connecting rod side clearance oil throwoff is what I was taught.
Lubes the cam lobes, piston skirts, piston wrist pins.
Grumpy is right too.
Not a big issues till you try and make 1000 hp or more.
Or turn real high rpms.

Do you mean the distributor gear and the cam gear that mesh together? What about it, other than
they must have compatible material.

or are you looking for a cloyes timing gear set?
most of the imported crap has quality control issues and the PBM stuff ,
and most other import parts are rather well known for that
I once used a timing set a buddy bought, for $11 at a auto parts store close out bin,
a SBC timing gear/chain set imported from India,
that had the tdc index vs the key-way location, 11 degrees off of true tdc,
if you used that timing set with the dot-to-dot cam install vs,
using a degree wheel install, it would be off index significantly,
we found out how off index it was using a degree wheel and dial indicator cam install

as usual read the links and sub linked info

Ok, I saw the word "distribution" and thought you meant distributor. There seems to be many
possibilities from Cloyes. This is the one I bought for my 400 SBC, wish I knew the difference,
but on Summit they don't tell the difference. Maybe with more research on the Cloyes website
it could be figured out.

I think Grumpy's timing set must be for a lined hone main bearings, since it does not fit the standard
distance of 4.521 inches. I thought they rated them at .005 inches closer to the camshaft centerline.

All three possibilities in a Compare on the Summit website:

.

On ignition distributor gears...
I bought this cheapo ignition system.
But since I have gone trough buying quality parts ( and reading trough all these treads....)
Which ignition shaft and rotor would you suggest to combine with the edelbrock camshaft?( I am sure there are treads around here...)
Thx
