496ci revamped

you should have little trouble seriously cracking 600 flywheel hp plus with the crane cam, or either cam actually,
as both have vaguely similar potential, your just potentially shifting the whole peak power curve,
about 600 rpm higher with the crane, version,
but keep in mind your goal is not racing, and its instantaneously accessible and massive torque,
in a use-able rpm range that makes the car fun too drive, either cam would provide that but personally,
Id want more in the mid and upper rpm range where its useful when you go W.O.T ,
and would not be overly concerned with a potentially very minor loss below 3500 rpm

The question is How much predicted engine vacuum he will have with your Crane Cam Grind Grumpy.
Or with another cam.
Or he has to convert the 4L80e back to full electronic shift.

Started off as a Racecar on the street.

Tamed down severe to make it work with his Transgo 4L80e -3 equipped trans.

High engine vacuum usually means tame soft cam.
Short on duration.
Wide lobe centers.
Dual plane intake.
High Velocity primary side carb like a Q-jet.
All the wrong stuff for a 496 BBC with AFR290 Heads.

This is what I'm building
Cam almost identical
Just have better heads

11" of vacuum

Mark actually builds 700+ with 265 AFR
Heads same cam 238@50 247@50 intake cl 108 112 lsa 580 something lift, I actually should have a bit less overlap then this does
Mine 236.6@50 242.6@50 108 intake cl
112 lsa 635 640

I watched.
It's actually pretty civil on the street.
4.56 gears.
He has 781 Oval Ports. Known to be Medium Velocity port heads in the Big Chevy World.
And he has a Dual Plane Intake manifold.

Thinking A Dual Plane may meet the needs for you.
Pretty sure it will kill 30-40 peak Hp.
After low end torque numbers.
Means more intake manifold vacuum typical.

Need to have Rick Dynomotion 5 again.
Grumps cam.
Dual plane intake.
Take a look at results.

Intake not a problem at all,
I have both

Sure can't complain about that port alignment, that is spot on !!!
Thanks!
Hey Rick if you get some time
Just out of curiosity could you possibly
Run sim my cam and my 290cc heads
But with a dual plane intake.
If get time.
It would be greatly appreciated :)

Have you considered cable operated throttle valve in transmission
I have seen kits for th400
Im not sure what mods transco manual shift kit needs
It can be difficult swap electronic control back

Not sure, 4l80e stuff is like black magic
As far as mods and do's and don'ts
But I had a call in to a friend at RPM
Transmission, the guy that built it (Tony Vargas Animal performance) says it's good with just a small amount of vacuum
I'm good with low vacuum, and it doesn't work like the old T400 that needs 11" of vacuum.
Monday I will have a better Idea
RPM transmission out of Anderson Indiana says it's good on low vacuum then it's good.

But I'm leaning on dual plane intake

I have tested dualplane, single plane and tunnelram in my 509 and results was that bigger intake made more torque and power
Carb was well tuned 1050 dominator
10,4 comp
244/256 hydraulic roller
dual plane was c454 dominator intake
