496ci revamped

But to anyone reading this,
Don't buy a fuel cell with a plastic setup like this, standard fuel will eat it, I ordered a aluminum one with a cap to replace it

You have a 4L80E I recall.
What torque converter ?
Recall stall not real high.
May have damaged it.
Low stalls they do not put good parts in typical.
Just Turbo 400 HD models like Coan and Hughes.

Need to call a Pro Converter builder.
$900 ready to spend.

Making Power Torque Yes.

This link is Transmission 101 on Facebook.
The Top Pro builders are there worldwide.
Have to join the group on Facebook.
It's an excellent group.
Best Racing and stock applications info here.
We do our best here.
The Pros keep torque converter secrects under lock and key.
Black Magic.
Best for 4L80E Race I know of.
Ask the Pros.
They will answer and Fit your budget $.

Coan makes a torque converter
3k stall lockup for that transgo Manuel shift valve body.
They have them in stock and they are in kokomo Indiana which is where I work.
I will have to talk to them Monday.
But the engine revs like a small block
The guy said he was pretty impressed.

Grumpys 496 is working for You.
Too good in a sense.
Makes so much on paper I have looked over many days and nights.
Only the best parts in driveline will take it.
Then have to hookup.
Another issue.

I'm actually in there group
I buzz around there and ask

780 was wcp With. Corrected. Power

HP WCP WAS 453.4 AT THE WHEEL.
guy said torque converter not locking up
So graph was really screwed up.
He said engine revs like a small block
He guess close to 650 to 670 at the wheel
Guess I will find out next week with a new lockup converter.
Your not supposed to lockup a torque converter on a Chassis Dyno I confirmed with a friend.
So readings will be erratic with a loose stall.
I think your over powering the torque converter.
Exceeded the maximum input torque it can hold.
Or the Internal fins bent.
The internal Sprag one way stator failed.

I know when I was at the Race Shop last year working they had a real hard time getting accurate readings with a Turbo 400 or Powerglide trans. 5000 rpms stalls.
On the AWD Mustang chassis dyno.
I watched.
My job was to build assemble engines.
Reinstall back in the cars.

Pretty sure it's not transmission issue
First gear is pretty solid but can't pull it in first, it wants to jump off dyno
It was a 3rd gear pull and it blows thru it, 4500 on dyno 6k on the car.

Not that I agree or disagree but this guy typically works on newer car tuned for Hennessy for 5 years , he said most newer cars have a button to lock up convert.
One thing was good fuel injection was spot on AFR was great.

I will make a call to RPM Transmission in Anderson Indiana about 35 miles away
And I might just take the whole thing to them or coan in Kokomo and let them check out the whole thing.

I can tell you from being around modern power, added cars what I call high speed torque not all Dyno Operators are the same.
Thier predictions are often way off.

My 2nd 455 I had it on a,Superflow water brake dyno.
The 1st Full Pull with a Full Bore Comp Cams Racing Cam it made way more torque down low than predicted.
It was September 1997.
Good Old Ted Borowski was working the Dyno himself.
A Chevy Shop and they specialized in Big Chevys 900 -1400 Hp Normal Aspirated.
Jokes were cracked.
Ted was mocking me.
Engine running.
Thumping away.
He hit the Throttle WOT and worked the Dyno Brake by hand.
Was not computer automated back then.
The Engine Raced away and on the Tachometer it Read 9,000 RPMs on the huge 18 inch face tachometer.
Sounded Great but was not to exceed 6500 rpm I told him.
Ted shut my RAIV 455 down.
I looked at him and he got real nervous.
Valve covers pulled and checked the Valve lash myself.
No Tuilped stretched valves.
Valves did not float.
Best parts available used at the time.

Like I said you can not have HP without TORQUE.

Made around 20 more pulls and I tuned the ignition and SD455 Q-jet to get best results.
