496ci revamped

I'm probably in for a treat...
I was told old gear was thought to be
3.7 :1
It's actually 3.25 : 1 12 pinion teeth divided by 39 ring gear teeth makes it 3.25
Now it 4.11 : 1
I wondered why my short time wasn't coming out right @ 1.7 ish
I'm guessing it's probably going to be close to 1.5 on my short time

I think I'm going to have to change my fuel injection setup.
I don't think 850 cfm is enough on the throttle body injection, I'm looking at a edelbrock system port injected
And sell my old setup,
The new edelbrock system is good for 850hp 1000cfm
I just noticed that the engine runs out of air or something at 6k 6200 ish and won't rev any higher even though rev limit is set to 6500.
I contacted Howard's to see if lifter or cam was the issue they seem to think it's
cfm
Fitech said most street applicants it should work fine.
My understanding is it all about volumetric efficiency , and with all my specs that comes out to be 111.07
And engine cfm 1053

And though?

At work right now.
Can do the math later.
Grumpy can since he is free present

1050-1110 cfm be best off the top of my head .
Have a 1050 cfm Bo Laws BLP 4150 carb Race ready for my own.
Lose about 100 cfm...gasoline displaces air.
Be 950 cfm -975 actaully engine sees.

This was the system I was looking at.
Jeg's has it on sale 2k with the rebate.

And yes 6500 was max, my plan per tire size @28" and new 4.11 gear I should be at 6300 ish crossing the line at 1/4 mile which should keep me on the high side of the pipe.

I did talk to Holley about there 1200cfm sniper said it was to big needs to be a minimum 850hp

I'm under the impression that a big carburetor is not good on the street
But on efi big cfm doesn't hurt a thing .

Really is no limit how big a Carburator can be.
The limit is the booster design and how goos the emulsion circuits are.
Lots of guys used to use Holley Dominators on the street.
It's a Big Ci engine wants air.

Most want EFI.
I dont.
Electronics quit your stranded.

think a bit, the cylinder is supposed to be a true cylinder , thats why deck plates are used to duplicate the stress a cylinder head clamped on the block does to the bore concentricy
in a true cylinder the bore diam will be the same in almost the full bore length surface,
its easy to use a tool to maintain the exact same consistent depth to set the piston ring down the bore,
making it exactly square to the bore axis center-line

keep in mind use of the ring square tool made from the,
PVC PLUMBING FITTINGS ,
AND USED ON MOST BBC ENGINES,
WILL BE DEALING WITH A 4.25"-4.5" BORE

Got my new pro-flo 4 efi
All in all not bad, but I would suggest anyone buying it to clean it first before installing,
Edelbrock says it's ready to go out of the box.
Not!!!!

Found all injector ports had aluminum break out chips in them.
And aluminum chips all over back side of TB as seen in pictures
Intake needs some love too.

Vic Edelbrock Jr died.
His daughter took over.
All production supposed to be done in the USA California yet.
Some rumors China now.
Not sure myself.

I believe it is a Chinese intake,
I say this because the intake doesn't seem to have the USA badge as the rest of new
Intake manifolds do.
