76' F100 resto rod project

Grandfather's old truck, new performance items, some suttle body mods, and a lot of elbow grease on hand, so let's get to planning this restoration/mod...

Right now I have more questions than answers of course so I will begin with basic questions that will guide me threw my current planning stage...

Ok so I want to swap the old 300 inline for a (460 based) 429 boss motor. If I want to keep my frame what are my choices for suspension up front?

The original twin I beam suspension will make great boat anchors! But is what i want gonna cause me to need a whole new frame?

I would like handling on the sporty side, power steering, anti-roll, a ltitle drop is ok, disk brakes...

FYI: The truck will pull my 16' Garwood speedster/trailer and ocasionaly a trailer with mulch or whatever on it.

Its 2wd Drive John.
All Ford Twin I beam suspensions are.

What are You Doing ?
Drag Racing ?
Street Toy ?
Daydreaming only ?

The Ford Twin I beam is actually pretty Good.
I drove a 1987 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.3 Liter SOHC & 5-speed for Years.
I could handle 30-45 mph curves at 85-100mph with the mini pickup.

Yeah brain fart otherwise would have an axle
Its a funny suspension to us.
Poly Ureathane Energy suspensiom bushings are a good upgrade.
Good street shocks.
They don't inspire driver confidence like a C4 Vette does pushed hard but The Twin I beam does perform pretty good.

If you are gonna do the swsp from what I have seen donor vechicles are mostly jags, crown vics, welded in with out cutting the original frame lots of pics online of this mod done. I did a 5 min search on gooogle comes down to if you have the equip, skill, or money to pull it off properly.

Its a $50,000-100,000 dollar engine he is talking about.
The Original Boss 429.
OR JOHN KASSE BOSS 429-460-700 CI CUBIC INCHER.

But a second search on I beam vs. A-arm leads me to believe if you want to convert what is your main reasoning. Why would you run into bump steer problems. If you are keeping a close to stock ride height then waste of time and money.

I was talking the front end swap yeah The 429 engine think he thinking destroking the 460 don't know cost on builing one but know I had one in my 72 mark 4 boat wanted to tunnel ram it. Left it a parents when moved to mass came home was sold. With another project car was trying to stash away.

Budget is fine, I work in the medical field.

Fabing metal = outsource... if it was wood I could fab it. But metal and welding are new to me...

460 destroke with a solid bottom end and bolt on the 3500$ John Kasse heads, and other goodies.

Basic 2-3" drop, but worried about the weight of the 460 effecting handling.

Street toy with some light truck duty, have to get my 16' Garwood speedster to the ramp (10 miles)

I have seen the drop I beam bolt in, but also seen the weld in beefed up mustang II FRONTS alongside other kits... just wondering what would be best for what I want to do...

Was even wanting that 6 speed Trans that mounts to the 460 that came out a few years back... but might need to go with 5 speed due to HP/torque...

Ok the tremec magnum is the 6 speed you want american powertrain give them a call 700ft lbs of torque handling. Give them a call they should have what you need. Tell them what you are doing. If you are out sourcing the metal fab your best bet is to start looking at shops and get on the phone. Go see the work they have done and make sure they can handle the work you want done. Fab is not cheap very time consuming to properly do so take that into consideration also. When looking for work done by shops look for similar work such as suspension modification. A hot rod shop. Just for your info it is cheaper to buy a truck done then to have the work done.
