these 10 ft x 20 ft, portable sun shade canopy's make working on your car out at the track or in the drive way far more pleasant here in florida,
they block just enough of the direct sun light to make working on the car outside reasonably tolerable.
they only take about 15 minutes to set up or take down, and Id strongly suggest you buy several dozen 6 ft bungee cords and 8... 5 gallon buckets you can transport empty but fill with water for ballast, once you get the canopy erected, too use as anchor weights
they are certainly NOT durable enough to use as a temporary garage , over the long haul, as the first significant stiff breeze will tip them over or damage them, even if its staked down or as one of my friends found out,
even if you bungee cord each vertical support to its own separate fully filled 5 gallon bucket full of water, or use ground anchor screws,
water filled buckets with a lid,do provide decent ballast ,
now he had 8... 5 gallon buckets each had several bungee cords attached, too add stability,

I was over at a neighbors drive way helping him with several mods on his car and the canopy made working on the car much more pleasant than it would have been in his badly lit,
single car garage as the canopy allowed both decent lighting,
and allowed a breeze around the car.
he stated he purchased his used at a local moving sale for $75
but even at $140-$200 its certainly a useful accessory here in florida if you don,t have access to a shop and need to work in your driveway, (been there with several friends way too often)
btw, if you don't have access to a level concrete slab , at least buy a couple sheets of 3/4" thick marine rated plywood to drive the car over so the sheets are 8 ft wide under the car, (youll generally want a minimum of two sheets and 4 makes use of a mechanics creeper fairly useful.
yeah, its rather expensive but a damn sight cheaper than pouring a concrete slab and it can be stacked on edge in the back of your shop when not in use.

so you can use a decent floor jack and 4... 12 ton rated jack stands, as the plywood prevents the floor jack and jack stands from sinking into asphalt or gravel or dirt drive ways.
to prevent the sheets from separating enough to cause the floor jack and creeper wheels from falling through the cracks I usually suggest screwing the sheets of plywood together by placing a couple 8 ft long sections of 2x4 under the plywood sheet edges and under the middle of the sheets, too keep the surface you work on flat and not expose edges between the sheets
(these can generally be purchased for under $4 each )
too get them off the driveway
,so the ground moisture is not as much an issue and a couple dozen 2" long dry wall screws and a power, screw gun make that a rather easy deal too assemble and remove when your done.

yes it might seem like extra work, but it makes the process of working on the car if you don,t have a shop or garage much more pleasant

it may help if you spray the screen with deep woods off (DEET) but here in florida mosquitoes and biting deer flys are generally far worse in the late evening
and after rain, mostly in the sept-oct time frame, not so much in brite sun light in the 9am-7pm time frame provided your not in a shaded area or next to horses or cattle of course
and hanging a bug zapper or two, near by, won,t hurt either
exten10ga.jpg

and having a 10 ga 100 ft long extension with a 3 plug connector won,t hurt a bit either

§ 250-38. Carports, temporary and portable shelters.

a Building Permit as required by the International Building Code.

(2) All such carports and shelters shall meet the accessory building setback requirements of this Chapter.

Now you see why
