a rather interesting, expensive and in my opinion nearly silly conversion

yeah as a conversation starter and even as an effective defensive pistol I can easily see why you might want one, but the cost of ammo being about $2 or more a shot brings the constant practice any handgun requires up to absurd financial levels, and spending nearly $1090 on a glock converted to 50 GI does not seem to me to be justified in that it throws heavy larger caliber bullets rather slowly

a 10mm glock has similar, or greater power , better penetration, cheaper ammo, and more than twice the magazine capacity, a 50 caliber 500 S&W revolver may have only 5 shots but 4 or more times the power
would the 50GI be effective in skilled hands?
hell yes!,
but so would a 45 ACP or 10MM, or 357 mag

btw you can quickly calculate bullet energy with this formula
bullet velocity x bullet velocity x bullet weight in grains /(divided by) 450240

example
a typical 10mm load throws a 180 grain bullet at 1200 fps
1200 x 1200 x 180 gr/450240=575 ft lbs

if we take a listed 50 GI load
showing a 240 grain bullet at 853 fps
we get
853 x 853 x 240/450240=388 ft lbs
