Add On EFI

reliable source of info
Please post any info, including swaps, mods or any experience anyone has with adding fuel injection to a carbureted engine. Tuning info, etc... would be nice as would harness, programing,etc...
I've done many swaps of whole drivetrains but only one after market efi swap and that didn't work out real well. ;)
I thought it would be nice to see what others have done/used etc...

the answer to your question depends a great deal on what your trying to accomplish with the swap to EFI

the least complicated systems are the self tuning throttle body based EFI, these are basically computer controlled carburetor replacement EFI systems that have links to sensors and a computer to quickly shift the fuel/air ratio, by changing the injector pulse duration, to the preset range/ to match load, rpm and air flow rates the sensors detect, these don,t require an intake swap, in many cases

the next most complicated are the stand alone systems
these are basically computer controlled replacement EFI systems that have links to sensors and a computer to quickly shift the fuel/air ratio, by changing the injector pulse duration, to the preset range/ to match load, rpm and air flow rates the sensors detect, these generally do require an intake swap, in many cases, because many have a direct port config with a separate injector for each intake port.

I wasn't really asking a question, just looking for what was current and what real world experience people had with different setups. I expect this to be ongoing as more people try more things and new products come along. Always an interesting topic to me, efi has come a long way since we bolted on a $400 Holley tbi to a Jeep 258 16 years ago. Thanks for the links, some good reading!
