factory available 650 hp corvettes

Its what I have been talking about for some time now Grumpy.
A new performance era standard .
Its actually been present since 2004.
5.0 Race world I know well 1st hand.
Took the Vette 10 years to catch up to 2004 standard water mark.

650 hp under your foot is available and has been available for decades to the knowledgeable performance engine builder , but to be able to get it off the show room floor in a "STOCK" corvette, just by ordering the correct options, and not going thru some semi secret C>O>P>O> that only a very limited few people are aware of that even exists as an option they can take advantage of is amazing to me

Remember your an old vetern drag racer too Grumpy.
Still have that Vette IRS Rear.
Big holdup to record runs.
Even harder on a C7, all aluminium alloy frame.
Makes it difficult to weld a Steel rollcage in & 4-link drag solid axle coil over shocks.
A C4 can still beat it.
Yours .
Mine. Have to complete both.

Phil will be like me....Big Deal 650 HP.
Stock or not.

the only BIG DEAL i see about it is the facct that you got manufacturers warranty on those 650 ponies... with the right pilot its a deep ten second car. that gets great fuel economy, a/c radio, all the luxuries... and the other big deal... its gonna be under 100k to buy... put that in your italian tailpipe and smoke it.

one thing to consider tho brian, is that a sbc that made 300 hp stock usually gets upgraded to about 400-450hp with ease, and the car can live at that power forever with the right maintenance... if i know gm engineers, i would say an additional 50% power increase to this motor will have the same effects... long life of very high powered service... i mean shit upper and lower pulleys, a throtle body and a cold air induction, matched with some long tubes and a free flowing exhaust... this thing will probably press over 750 to THE TIRE. nevermind what happens when magnacharger, whipple, kenne bell, and the others start making bolt on upgradeable superchargers and heat exchangers for it!

the end result is the 8k you spend on a magnacharger setup for a c5 or 6 vette would net you something like 500-600 hp the same 8 grand will get these guys 800 or more

grumpys point is very valid too,... you dont need to go to the back door or know a guy who knows a guy to get a serious high performance machine... chevy puts it right in the front window and says "here you go" with bumper to bumper 3 year 36k miles warranty

When Chevy Factory Installs a Dana 60 Drag Rear, Race Spool, 4.56-5.38 Gears, 31"X18" Wide Drag Slicks Or Drag Radial tires, HP AT 2,000 , Revs to 8-9k, Titanium Rods & Valves, 18-Point 7-second NHRA Certified Roll cage, No A/C all electronic garbage thrown out, Old man seats gone & lightwieght Recaros seats installed,
$50K -60k price tag, no warrenty but will Win.......
I will be impressed Phil.

They are still so far behind the Street Race & NHRA NMCA -5.0 guys today.

Convertible the only option.
