Hello gentlemen , Abiel here from south Tx. I'm new to the forum but visited years ago. I've got an 84 Corvette with the Crossfire. Up till 2009....my car was perfect. It had a crane cam(biggest possible cam with the stock ecm) hypertech thermomaster chip, 160*stat, ported stock intake and heads and 2.02/1.90 stainless valves. It was also rebuilt with hyperuetectic pistons bored .30 over. Glad to meet all you fellas! Hopefully I can get my pride and joy out of the sad state it's in now with your help guys. The vette hasn't ran since 2009 :(

So far, I parked it because it started running very lean on cylinders 3,5, and 6. The hooker headers Glowing red hot in broad daylight. This happened after my original gasket matched ported crossfire intake was ported again, but this time the egr passage was grinded off. At that time I was one of the original purchasers of the renegade intake, been so long now.. when I finally got the renegade it was the same problem. I took the car to a different mechanic and he did some witchcraft to the timing and the glowing headers stopped. The car would idle and drive fine under light load but would backfire like crazy and has no power. I checked codes and I would get a "No distributor reference " code. I replaced the pigtail for the distributor harness, same problem. I left the car alone because I always thought my problem was now tune related. Finally, I found a dynamic efi ecm with harness (my harness served as a buffet recently for some bastard rats in my garage...) Now I cant find a REAL TUNER that doesn't only tune newer ls vehicles. I'm decided I want to bring my high school sweet heart back to its former glory. I've owned her since 2000. Any suggestions gentlemen?

Welcome the boards!

Just curious... these would be helpful to share. Would enable folks to better understand the scope of the mods you have.
  • What cam are you running?
  • What is your fuel pressure?
  • What injectors are you running?
  • What heads are on the car?
Also, have you considered tuning it yourself using EBL or a similar system? It's a steep learning curve- but very rewarding knowing that it's truly adaptable to whatever mods you are using.
