another rather interesting side by side comparison

I have tofinish watching.
That Viper really grips.
Z06 RIGHT THERE ALMOST.
NEEDS CARREA CUSTOM ROAD RACE SHOCKS.

I watched all Grumpy.
This time all the way through .
I was on a Road Call earlier today.

I am not Really that pleased with the Outcome.
Krazy Ed and Me need to get our hands on the ZO6.
HP WILL BE AT 1400- 2500 HP.
BLOW THAT VIPER AWAY.

the issue controlling the difference in performance potential, or performance of the cars ,there in that video, is related more to a refined suspension, power to weight, ratio, and front to rear weight bias, how the center of mass vs the suspension works , the brakes, and the suspension and tires being able to put the power efficiently to the pavement, not a lack of horse power.
Id also point out that just about anything that you could do to the corvette's engine , would result in a bit more power coaxed from the larger displacement V10 of the viper.
both cars have decent power, but in the current configuration the vipers using and transferring the power to the pavement a couple percentage points more effectively under some conditions

You have to understand I am an old school drag racer, street racer, former Dirt Track Head Mechanic from the Midwest.
Illinois .
Winning is Everything.
I Love my 1987 C4 Corvette Convertible just like I Love My Pontiacs.

I don't care what it takes.
Pass that Viper Sideways in A Z06 @150 MPH.
PASS THE HELLCAT AT 130 MPH WITH THE FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND.

ITS GETTING OLD.
I WANT CORVETTE TO WIN.

PUT ON A REAL SHOW.
GET THAT 44 MAGNUM WITH THE 8" INCH BARREL. FIRE A FEW SHOTS.

I have zero doubt that a decent corvette mechanic, with some track time and a bit of engineering back ground, familiar with both drive trains and suspensions , could tweak the corvettes current combo to beat that viper in its current condition, After decades of engine building and racing, I'm reasonably sure that theres very few really skilled mechanics with the required experience and engineering back ground, but I also know that some of the older and more experienced mechanics with racing experience can and do regularly provide nearly amazing improvements just buy use of common sense, observation and constantly trying new ways to improve the cars performance.
but at the same time a good viper mechanic with similar skills could constantly keep up with and stay at a similar performance level, both cars can constantly be upgraded all it takes is skilled engineering and a endless row of wheel barrows full of cash.
Brian, from what I,ve seen, posted, you have that experience, your more than likely IN that select few but its a very small group, and as I'm sure your aware theres a great many people claiming to be "mechanics" that can hardly tell a hammer from a dial caliper.

then reality hits

But reality is that if you expect to perform near miracles, on a race car,
it takes both extensive experience, in the related field, access too an extensive inventory of parts and testing track time,
and a good deal more cash and time than most people might expect

The Viper seems to have Power advantage More Torque.
Its in the Rod to Stroke ratio.
Behaving like a Hot Cammed Poncho 455,

6.4 liters engine size for the corvette vs 8.4 liters for the viper tends to provide some torque advantages, especially at lower rpms

Doing the opposite of what most think may help...
Pontiac V8 tech...Reduce intake port size volume.

The Viper has one disadvantage.
The Aero pack adds static weight .
Adds Aerodynamic drag.

Money is tight for all right now Grumpy.
Yes Reality .

Building torque costs less than Big HP.

Its Over Grumpy.
I think you know what happened.
I got booted off of DC For saying Pontiacs and Hellcats.
The battle is Lost.
The Hellcats and New ACR Viper have Won.
Corvette shut down.

Pontiac guy I am and very proud.
I am a Corvette Owner too.

Thinking of Selling my Corvette come Springtime Grumpy.
After my experience on Digital Corvette Forum I am ashamed to be a Corvette Owner.

I am a Pontiac Guy.
We Build cars ourselves from the ground up.
Hire no professional shop.
We Drag Race and Street Race.
And John Birdman with his '70 Firebird Road Races.

Do You Know How Gay the Corvette Guys appear to the Mopar Guys ?
Real Bad.

Mopar Bob near me is laughing at all the Corvette guys on DC.

Its 2 degrees Fareinhieght above Zero Grumpy here.
I am going out to work on my Pontiacs.

Ashamed of the Corvette World I was a part of since 2007.
Losers won't drag race and street race the Hellcats.

Brian, you seem to be overly fixated on the failures or successes of what OTHER people do with their cars,
based mostly on what you see the hell cat dodges accomplish, a thing you have absolutely no control over,
if you choose to build a corvette that eats hellcats for lunch, its fairly easy to do with a twin turbo BBC c4,
and some serious drive train mods , and for well UNDER the cost of a new hellcat.

Your like A Diode Grumpy.
You hear what you only want to hear.

MAKE NO MISTAKE I AM 100 % PONTIAC .

NOT A CORVETTE GUY NO LONGER.

I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND .

CLASSIC GIVE ME LINKS TO READ.

HAVE YOU EVER BUILT AND WORKED ON 8-SECOND DRAG CARS ?
I HAVE.

No offence Grumpy to You.
But Fick Corvettes.

As my best Bud Bob says to me its not the car but its the owners why they are hated.

while I will agree that theres plenty of A%^&* who own and drive corvettes,
I think that problem , of A%^&* who own and drive most cars ,is surely not limited in any way to a single automotive brand name.
I,m not about to state corvettes are superior to anything else O the road, we all now that no mater what you might be driving there,s bound to be faster
or more impressive cars being built someplace or by some one, I'm simply pointing out that basing your performance car goals on an off the dealer show room car costing $70K-$80K is rather unrealistic unless your willing to spend at least a some what similar cash expenditure, or be willing to compromise, in some area, such as being willing to live with the fact youll be driving an older car with fewer features or building a lighter weight car with a bit less power ETC.

personally if I had $80K to spend on a weekend toy
