until fairly recently I had several contacts at several different G.M. dealerships that could look up part numbers, parts availability and in one case give mechanics /wholesale discounts, on some of the parts I buy simply because I do a fair amount of work on my cars and while helping out others with their car rebuilds and repairs.
if anyone here works at a dealership or has access to info it would sure help the members here if your willing to at least share info?
as an example I recently purchased a fourth 4l80e transmission, for a guys project and while it might not seem like much we shopped around and eventually found a factory rebuilt 4l80e at a decent price, I mentioned that to one of my friends that used to work at a caddy dealership and he saved us the cost of shipping by selling us the same part number and having it delivered to our local caddy dealership for local pick-up and not only saved us the shipping but knocked $50 of the cost, so that was very appreciated.
The problem, is that the dealership he worked at closed a few months later ending that parts supply option.
