about 3-5 times a day I get calls on my cell phone reminding me that my cars warrantee maintenance repair policy is about to lapse,
I don't know if they are referring to my old car or the newer truck, I recently purchased with a 3 year extended bumper to bumper warrantee
now I usually just hang up on them,
but I was curious and had a few minutes to waste this afternoon,
so the robot call says press #1
if you want to speak to your cars agent!
so I press #one, and I get a guy with a heavy Indian or maybe...
Pakistani type of accent I can barely understand,
asking me to verify what make model and year car I own.
now logic says if they are calling to inform me my vehicles maintenance policy is about to lapse....
they must know what make model and year car I own.
when the caller obviously has no clue I hang up..

now about 7-8 minutes goes by,,, and I get a very similar call...
I'm curious if its the local GMC dealership, or a scam..
I don't know if its the same robot caller,
but when I press #1 as instructed, I get some gal, with a pakistani/Indian accent,
who starts out the identical way.. asking me to verify the
make model and year car I own.
when the caller obviously has no clue, and I doubt the local GMC dealer,
has a Pakistani boiler room selling auto maintenance policy's
I asked to be removed from the call list.. at which point they hang up.

these guys/are a PITA, and you would think they would get a clue if you hang up on them enough times

I get the calls too.
I started to turn the tables on them by letting them know.... how sorry I was not to get back with them earlier
and yes the car in question is for sale and then I start to explain some B.S. about a car I do not even know.
I always interupt them when they try to speak by explaining how awsome of a parent they must be to be looking for a car
that their kid will enjoy. Always ask for the kids name during the conversation.. and just keep laying down the B.S.

I do this to all telemarketers.

I do the same thing . Lead them on about how I could use a company that would stand behind all of the repairs they pay and just keep yaking away and I know they are starting to wet their pants with a sale , then drop the hammer on them with my car is a 1928 Duesenberg " CLICK "

Telemarketers get information on state‘s vehicle registrations under a loophole in the Freedom of Information Act. What you may not know is the Federal and the States “Do Not Call” registries (dispite anything you heard) only cloak your phone numbers for 75 days (states), 90 days (Federal). So if you want to decrease the unsolicited calls you get you must renew your DNC often throughout the year.
Telling the callers to take you off their lists does nothing. In fact, if you piss them off they will tag you for “Requested callback.”
Robo calls are illegal in all 50 states but somehow it still happens. There is a device you can purchase that detects Robo calls, cable and Fios has an option on their phone service that detects robo calls but it still lets your phone ring once.
