I never have been a Real Big Fan of that Numberg thing Grumpy.
Just because its so far away.
I am a small town guy and with a backroad racing Heart of speed.

Plus Illinois is mostly 2-lane blacktop roads.
Some twisties . MOSTLY FLAT AND STRAIGHT.

TIME TO BRING THE CORVETTE BACK TO THE USA .
WHERE IT BELONGS.

THE OLD C4 CORVETTE CHALLANGE RACES WERE FUN READING.
DO IT AGAIN IN 2015 - 2016.

They almost had to react hard and fast upon the death of a spectator at the races. This isn't the first time this has been done and it won't last long when the track needs the money. Back in 1999 I took European delivery of a BMW M5 and at that time the track rented privately for $130,000/ day. I wish some big money Americans would step up and build a World Class track here in the States.

tracks are too noisy for our quiche eating american ears....

^^ very well said! thats exactly what we face here... when i was too young drive there were two more tracks here in south florida than there are now... and for about ten years there was a new one opened on us27. that ones closed too so all thats left is 1/8 mile homestead speedway once a month weather permitting and 1/4 mile moroso (pbir) thats kind of prohibitive by its distance from the concentration of people in south florida. damn shame.

more to the point of this topic... the nearest road race track to me that im aware of is sebring.... which isnt really "near" much at all

yeah! I understand its completely different and requires MEGA bucks to compete in that venue, but technically building a car that can handle and brake and accelerate at the required speeds, at places like sebring, le mans and Nürburgring is both impressive and I think a bit more universally seen as RACING rather than drag racing

I know alot of car guys in Florida love Road Racing Grumpy.

I love dirt track racing here in the Midwest.
Even the Chicago guys love it .

I really think we are headed for drag racing and super street performance.
1.4 G force holding power not required.
.75-.80 g force cornering good enough.

Ive built engines for . and helped work on, some of the local circle track guys cars, and far more engines for street performance,
muscle car enthusiasts, and drag racers, I,d love to own a new corvette or build a car to race at sebring or lemans,
but making my monthly bills , while supporting both my and my son's family,is already a huge challenge
personally I think owning a dependable transportation car that can, when asked too, run 11 second 1/4 mile et
and still drive on vacation with little chance of it breaking down,
is about the largest challenge most of our bank balance's can hope to cover

12's more realistic daily driver reliable.

Low 11's & 10's I know the risks.
Its true racecar drag car .
Only experienced like us can do it.
