Battery in the trunk

I know many guys redistribute weight to the trunk and install the battery out back. The past owner put the battery in a battery box and ran a somewhat HD cable to the starter terminal when his mechanic discovered the battery tray was rotted. Should I leave it there or restore originality?

I would try and find a replacement battery tray Richard.
An original not rusted out may be the only option.
For now the Battery stays Trunk mounted.

I thought you'd say that Brian. I've been online searching stuff for this car - you would think you're restoring a one off Packard! I don't believe the rear bumper is OE so I've been looking for a good replacement. Nothing! And I know the bumper guys!

There may be a front & rear bumper for your 1968 Catalina near me.
In a small wharehouse. I would have to take time to look myself 1st hand.

Ebay is the only way I can find original & NOS GM Parts for both my Pontiacs.

having heavy gauge COPPER cables with the correct ends goes a long way towards
reducing potential battery and starter related issues

works very well

I only saw the battery box and the line under the car. I'll have to check if there is a solenoid.

If Franks don't have it listed on thier Website its not usually on hand.
Can always call and ask.
1968 Pontiac B Body Catalina, Grand Prix, & Bonnevilles are obscure.

Grumpy hates Ebay.
He has been ripped off there.
I don't know.
Mopar Bob & Me do great there finding parts and selling .
Ultra Rare Poncho Pontiac is not like going to the Mainstream Chevy Store.

Its a Pontiac Mafia Network.
